skip to 1:30 if you don't want to watch the dyno runs
I saw this on FB yesterday. They say it makes 900 to the crank, how does it lose over 100hp to the wheels? I know all cars do but that seems like a lot.

If you are the kind of person that will leave the Evo alone and enjoy it stock, then it doesn't really matter. At that point it's just your preference of 6 speed vs 5 speed.  But if you plan to build it a little bit, the GSR is the way to go. First off, it's going to be cheaper for the same car just because are technically worth more. So that's more money for you to spend on rims, suspension, whatever you like. Second, the GSR 5 speed ****** is not only much stronger than the MR ******, but the longer gears are much nicer when dealing with a turbo car with decent power.  I had my MR up to nearly 400hp and i had to shift WAY to often. Not to mention i was pushing the limits of my transmission.....

Also, is there a reason you specifically mentioned the IX? Because when it comes to Evos, 8 > 9 In my opinion.

I just happened to like the body's of the IX, but what does VIII have "better" than the IX? I'm not opposed into looking at VIII's, especially if they'll be cheaper to obtain one.
8 and 9 have the same body though, lol. In fact so does the 7 (But they weren't produced in the US)

8s are 2003-2005, 9s are 2006 only

they have slightly different interior. Black/Dark blue seats in the 8, Black leather/black suede in the 9
black steering wheel in the 9, silver in the 8
9 has Mivec (similar to VTEC in Hondas) actually makes mods and tuning a little more of a pain in the ***

The 8 has a better looking front bumper, in MY opinion of course. The VIII is usually going to be cheaper because its older, so again, more money to throw at it after you get it. Although  the 9 has a better turbo, so kind of like the GSR vs MR debate, the 8 is better to buy if you will be modding the car. If you are content with rocking a stock Evo, it doesn't really matter just buy the nicest one you find that you like.....

but the weaker turbo on the 8 isn't a big deal, i bought a 9 turbo for my car for like $300

Well, I went to looking for some yesterday but came across a 2012 Evo X GSR for $29K. It only had ~18K miles and everything was just immaculate and after test driving it, I'm in love, and was ready to trade in my FR-S right there. Luckily, I was able to compose myself and sleep on it and was going to spend time this weekend researching it. Anybody input of the X's?

Im more interested in the brand im attempting to start sourcing parts for the winter build

Whats your budget? I would get coils just because they're adjustable.

Coils are a deff just want to hear from someone who has them to hear about the quality and ride height. There are so many options i am trying to narrow it down

Ive had H&Rs, BC regulars and extreme lows and Teins and I liked the Teins the best.

The Teins rode the smoothest by far and were built the best.

A lot of it has to do with how low you set them and the spring rate you go with.

What do you want them for? Lowering? or Handling?

Im sure more guys can chime in for which brands provide best handling, they will be more pricey I believe.

For handling purposes though you can add things like sway and strut bars, new bushings and end links, also setting up the right camber, toe and all that stuff will help.

Most opinions will be somewhat biased though so I would get on NASIOC and see what other BRZ guys are running and go from there.

Yea im still looking around im deff doing coils and a upper strut at the very least. Wont be doing a lot of auto cross or anything but i want to try road course racing so im not sure how much i want to invest in suspension vs wheels/tires/breaks but that wont be till at least next summer
