I mean heck last year I got into 4 game betas without it.

It is more than worth it.

The auto-downloading of patches function is almost worth the price alone.

Care to elaborate on how auto-downloading works, Process?

I've been debating whether or not to upgrade to PS+ , might do so when I get another PSN card.
  

Basically it is a function, once you have PS+, that you need to go turn on in the system settings drop down menu.

Once on and a time is set (I have mine at 4am) your Playstation will turn on and search for any updated patch. It uses games in which you have saved data for I believe. So, for example, I turned mine on yesterday and it had downloaded the Black Ops patch for me, even though I havent played it in a couple weeks.

Another bonus is it downloads demos that you might be interested in.

Only thing it doesn't auto-download for me is system updates, but thats fine.

Beta Schedule

Phase 1 (Private invites) - Begins March 15. Eligible players will be contacted with details

A federal magistrate has awarded Sony a subpoena allowing the company to obtain the IP addresses of everyone who visited the personal website of PlayStation 3 jailbreaker George Hotz for the past 26 months.

Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero of San Francisco also granted Sony's request for subpoenas on Google, Twitter, and another service for information relating to accounts held by the 21-year-old Hotz, who goes by the moniker GeoHot. Thursday's move comes in a lawsuit Sony filed in January alleging that Hotz and more than 100 other other hackers violated US copyright law by showing others how to bypass technical measures built in to the game console so they would run games and software not authorized by Sony.



Together, the subpoenas allow Sony to obtain a wealth of information about people who aren't named in the complaint and have been accused of no wrongdoing. That includes the IP address of everyone who has visited www.geohot.com since January 2009 and the account names of anyone who has accessed a private video relating to the jailbreak on Hotz's YouTube account. Other subpoenas give Sony access to Tweets posted or published by Hotz, and information about his account on the PSX-Scene website.

You should've been had PS+ already. It's a great deal from all of the free stuff alone. Just like now, they're slowly releasing Genesis titles from the Collection for free download. Sonic 1 is already up.

just so you know everything is gone after the PS + expires... so say you download free games, demos, wallpapers etc they take it all away once your not on PS + this is the downfall to it and the reason why ill never get it...

Demos do not disappear because they are free.
And games, what does it matter? Play the game, beat it, and be done with it.

If you like a game enough to replay it, then support the creator and pay for it... 

I understand its not for everyone one, but I have saved north of $200 with it.
