Puma Scoot Henderson Thread

Here's a thread for Puma stuff for Scoot Henderson. Let's post all Puma things tied to Scoot on this thread.

He's definitely getting a signature line since he signed a significant deal with Puma in 2022. He wasn't even eligible for the NBA Draft yet when they signed him while he was in the G League.

This appears to be his projected first signature shoe with Puma.

Sig as a rookie is tough. Would be interesting if he ended up in Charlotte too.

It's interesting Puma is releasing an existing model before a signature shoe for Scoot Henderson. I see this as somewhat awkward because they signed him to a significant deal before he was even eligible for the NBA Draft, so it would be assumed that he was getting a signature shoe by default based on that. And they did sign him early while he was only in the G League. They're basically projecting him as marquee name for the brand.

The latest mock drafts are projecting the Hornets to pick Brandon Miller with the second overall pick, and the Blazers selecting Scoot Henderson with the third overall pick.

Charlotte is notoriously tight lipped....never even publicly confirmed we had either in for a workout.

Mocks are trash most of the time. Literally all of them had Jabari Smith going number one for weeks until an hour before the draft last year.

Doesn't mean the mocks are wrong, also doesn't mean they are right.

The Hornets (Bobcats reinvention version) have never been a stable organization, especially under Michael Jordan. He's actually agreed to sell the team now.

That's why they're called mock drafts for a reason. And projections with them will always be a default dynamic. Teams can easily be swayed in deviating from picking someone they're projected to pick if they're not in a position to draft a transcendent or legitimately good player.

But I'm wondering if they'll reveal Scoot's pending signature shoes immediately after the draft.

Correct.

Though Michael Jordan is not as bad an owner as everyone made him out to be, especially with what he did in the Charlotte community, and especially compared to the previous owners of other professional teams in the area, but that's a story/convo for another day that a lot of people won't have. All you see online is "SO GLAD HE'S SELLING" and yet....he will still own a minority stake.

That's nice to know he did positive things in the Charlotte community. Yeah, George Shinn (owner of original Hornets) was terrible, especially with him having immoral conduct regarding going through a sexual assault trial and cheating on his then-wife.

That's correct that Jordan will still own a minority stake in the Hornets after he sells his majority share for a reported $3 billion. It appears he wanted to cash out to have less responsibilities as an owner because he wants to enjoy his life at an older age.

Jordan will always be rightly stigmatized for his past with poor draft choices, specifically with him drafting Kwame Brown for the Wizards with the top overall pick in 2001, and drafting Adam Morrison for the Bobcats with the third overall pick in 2006. He was horrendous with evaluating talent and assembling viable teams. He was destined to fail as an owner predicated on his ego and condescending approach. Being able to succeed as an owner is completely different from being highly successful as a supremely gifted player.

Not uncommon to have a PE prior to a signature. Book has a GT Cut, Zion had a PE 34 & 35, Tatum had a PE 36 and two 37’s, Russ had a 28 & 29 prior, Kyrie hyerdunks, etc). Seems like Puma is following the same course.
