quick question about transfering music from an external hd (vlc media file?)

im getting a new computer & i decided to put all my music on an external hd to transfer it over. im really picky about how my music is organized, so i tested it out on another computer in my house & all the files went over & saved just like how i had them organized on my computer. only difference is, when i uploaded them, i saw the were now vlc media files? they saved like how i wanted to on itunes & they played fine, but what does it mean if theyre vlc media files now? anything i should know of when transfering my music in the future? thanks for the help

right click on the one of the mp3 files and choose "open with"

then choose the program you want to open the files

when you do that it will ask if you want all the files of that type to be opened that way (there will be a little box at the bottom)
