Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

The amount of attention this song is getting is insane

The label gotta be salivating at the sight of every “think piece” and news segment.

exactly. Like i said. And have always stated. Social Media timelines are worse than any 90s video, any x-rated film.... and ESPECIALLY this song which I haven’t listened to nor plan on or watching the video by choice. This over exaggerating, attention whoring era is a joke.

like I said, Twitter, IG, and FB literally have porn pages that get promoted. Explicit imagery all on TL. Search for d*ck, p*ssy or any sexual hashtags and the imagery is right there. Full nudity

That “WAP” song sonically ain’t even good . The beat is lazy. They not creative with their flows. It ain’t really even booty shaking music like THAT. Cardi & Meg got way better songs than that from a musical perspective, in their lanes.

But they strategic marketed the **** out of it. Turned it into a hot button issue....when it really ain’t even out the norm for what we hear . Then placed Kylie in it...because they new the reaction it would get.

I just sat back and watched the perfect storm. The intersection of shade room social media - Twitter hot takes - clueless white conservatives - hoteps - reactionaries - feminist - lgbtq - and curious people in general.

If that song was just a cut on a mixtape, by them too without the video and everything behind it....it wouldn’t even draw a blip, other than being a playlist joint maybe.

That sample is what sets it off. Just like French using the Uncle Luke joint for Pop That. It tugs the strings on ratchet *** girls heart.

I don't even get what all the noise is about. I swear people just be bored, need something to talk about. Even the people saying "this ain't the time for that". I mean I get it but ain't nobody expecting Cardi to turn into Lauryn Hill. We know who she is, y'all have encouraged and championed her being her. Let these girls bust it open and have their fun.

This   if you listen to that in your headphones without the video, the song really stinks. The beat is all over the place. I feel the same about the "Savage" too, just so much stuff going on, but people doing Tik Tok's made that song explode. But the video and lyrics made social media explode. Those clueless white conservatives are mention are literally reading the lyrics on air
