Hi,

Need help with the following.

Somewhere in the 80''s if I remember correctly Nike released a pair of sneakers which name I don''t remember. They looked like Oddessey or Epics and were in aqua blue. They had a M3 reflective swoosh and were the most expensive pair released for retail at that time I believe. They were top of the line and cost 500 guilder. Back then it was more then three on the dollar so 1500$ maybe for a pair.

I would like to know the name and maybe own them some day as I''ve never forgotten about them.

Thanks!

$1500 for a pair in the 80's? I just cant believe it.. Nike has never reached that at "retail".

I think your math is wrong, if you're talking about Dutch Guilders they were exchanged at a rate of 3 guilders to 1 dollar. so 500 Guilders would be approx $166.67. I'm not too knowledgable on the pricing of shoes from that particular era (I'm assuming 83-85 would be the release time frame)

1500 bucks in the 80s is impossible

Even 160 is impossible because the Jordans caused a frenzy and they were 100

There were plenty of shoes that cost more than $100 in the 80s.

But, once again, we have a stunning lack of reading comprehension here. He is saying 1500 GUILDER, not dollars. OP is foreign. Guilder was the currency of the Netherlands before converting to the Euro.

Mints is right though - OP, you have the currency conversion reversed, if that's what you are talking about. For must of the 80s, the exchange rate was between 2.5 - 3 guilder to the dollar - making a 500 guilder shoe more like 160 - 200 dollars, US equivalent.

...Now, if you consider "real dollars" and adjust for cost of inflation, then the cost of many of the original shoes in the 80s and early 90s are were actually much more expensive in their original release.

Regarding OP's original question - I have no idea. You're going to have to see if you can give a more detailed description to get a shot at getting an answer.

They were low tops, I assume?
Running shoes, I guess?
Do you remember any colorways?

Nah, Nike Air Pressures were more than Jordans, around $160, maybe more.

MSRP on Pressures were $190.

Command Forces were well over 100.

Most Jordans hit 124.99

At least by say, '91/'92 almost all top of the line Nike shoes were $100 or more. Just your yearly Air Maxes with the big bubbles exceeded that price point. Shoes like the Air Max Trainer '92 commonly sold for like 109 or 119.
