Cavaliers Talk To Sixers' Williams
The Cleveland Cavaliers have had discussions with restricted Sixer Louis Williams, the Philadelphia Daily News is reporting.

According to the report, some of the Cavs' interest in Williams is a result of contentious negotiations with guard Delonte West.

Moscow Dynamo apparently did make inquiries about West, the former star at Saint Joseph's, but he has no interest in playing in Russia.

If the Cavs are thinking of low-balling Lou like Delonte, then they must be stupid.

It was just a misunderstanding. Yao already called up Ron and they cleared it up. Ron will report to Houston, extension or no extension in place.

I like Delonte a whole lot but I'm starting to think Williams is a better all-around player after watching some videos and reading some stuff. Does anybodyknow what he's asking for? The upside is ridiculous with his age...

The Memphis Game: The Memphis Grizzlies are the lone team in the NBA sitting on a meaningful amount of cap space, more than $14.6 million in space to be exact. The NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement requires every team to spend at least 75% of the salary cap, and that exactly where the Grizzlies are sitting right now, and do not look to be moving off that number any time soon. The Grizzlies roster actually looks pretty good on paper, and maybe that will generate some buzz for the Grizz at the box office, because the team is getting absolutely killed financially in Memphis. So much so that almost every expert in the league believes if the situation does not improve soon, Michael Heisley may try to move the team again. Somewhere in Vancouver there is a great giggle resonating through the Great White North. Heisley has tried to sell the team before, and found that after close examination of the books and the business that the Grizz are more than just a loser on the floor, killing the value. The Grizzlies got run pretty badly for trading Pau Gasol to the Lakers for virtually nothing, but the move was not about basketball, the move was entirely about getting the Grizzlies to the minimum NBA salary. The Grizzlies have been exploring ways to get even further below the minimum salary number; such as trading Javaris Crittenton to Orlando for Fran Vasquez's rights and a future draft pick. Vasquez counts against the cap and the NBA minimum, but no dollars have to be paid out. The Grizz were also said to be exploring ways to get a hold of Nenad Krstic before he opted for Europe in a similar cost cutting move, get his rights let him walk to Europe, get an additional $2 million off the books. It's fair to say the Grizzlies do not need to spend any money as their roster is set, but when you wonder why Memphis is not moving with its cap space, it's for a lot of reasons not about basketball.

First of the All, the city of Memphis has a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies or HoopLC, the managing company of the Memphis Grizzlies and the FedExForum, for the next 10 years. If the company were to break or breach this contract it would trigger numerous legal and financial woes. Second of all, with theFedExForum being the newest arena in the NBA, it is obvious that the Grizzlies have made a commitment to remain in the city. Lastly, if the man that wrote thearticle did his research, he would also realize that the owner of the Grizzlies, Michael Heisley, has realized a renewed interest in his team and this city, and alongside General Manager Chris Wallace the duo has firmly established the "Three Year Plan" for team and personnel development in order totransform the team into a contender.

That's one thing our mayor did do right was to make sure this team would stay in Memphis at least 15 years, so all that talk is nonsense.

I think he's looking for at least 5 million

But keep dreaming man, Lou ain't leaving Philly especially with the new acquisition of Brand.

And Stefanski said signing Dre & Lou this offseason is top priority

Stefanski was pretty much in the same position as Mullin as far as keeping their young talent who are restricted free agents. Trust me, Stefanski won'tlet Iguodala and Williams go. There'd be hell to pay with the fans if that would happen

Clippers still making moves.
The Los Angeles Clippers signed veteran forward Brian Skinner, Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.

Originally drafted by the Clippers in the first round (22nd overall pick) of the 1998 NBA Draft, Skinner is a 10-year NBA veteran who returns to Los Angeles after playing 66 games last season with the Phoenix Suns.

Skinner should be a good back up behind Kaman and Camby.
Sixers, Williams agree on 5-year deal
By PHIL JASNER
Philadelphia Daily News

The 76ers agreed to terms today with restricted free agent guard Louis Williams on a 5-year contract.
Additional terms of the deal were not immediately known.

"It's a good deal for Louis," Merle Scott, Williams' agent, told the Daily News. "It gives him a chance to grow with a team that's building and allows him to stay with the team he came into the league with."

Sixers president/general manager Ed Stefanski declined comment.

Williams, the 45th pick in the 2005 NBA draft as a high school senior out of South Gwinnett High School in Snelville, Ga., appeared in 80 games last season and averaged 11.3 points in 23 minutes.

He averaged 12.0 points in the Sixers' six-game playoff run against Detroit.

AP PhotoFormer Michigan State guard Drew Neitzel signed his first professional contract with the Artland Dragons in Germany.

Drew Neitzel probably would have received an invitation to a NBA camp in October.

The former Michigan State guard probably could have played a few minutes, too.

Still, Steve Grinczel thinks Neitzel probably made the right decision to sign his first professional contract with the Artland Dragons inGermany.

Grinczel told WGHN's Ryan Terpstra that the former Spartans star likely has a better opportunity to showcase his talent overseas and follow in thefootsteps of former Michigan State star Charlie Bell.

"Even if (Neitzel) got into a NBA camp and even if he made the team, chances of him playing probably aren't that great," Grinczel said."This might give him a chance to establish himself a little bit more and get into a program where he can demonstrate what he can do."

Grinczel said Neitzel might have received an invitation to NBA camps, but if the former Second-Team All-American was cut, he likely would have beenoverlooked as a free agent.

"He probably would get into an NBA camp in October, but then he would face the probability of being cut or sent to the (NBA Development League),"Grinczel said.

Listen to Grinczel's entire interview on WGHN to hear if he thinks Neitzel will ever return from overseas to play in the NBA.
