dudes acting dumb to bring the lulz.
thats what im saying

everyone knows damn well hearing a black person speak and person of another race speak will sound totally different. And im not talking about slang or anything, people just sound different.
Word. But I mean, not many races can identify with the "Over The phone Job inquiry/Job interview" voice. So I can't fault them

The tone, inflection and terminology of your voice depends on the region/culture your born into, not race.

Op is ******ed.

Henry Louis gates from west virginia...I KNOW he ain't grow up sounding like the way he does now...... I can understand toning down the accent (I gotta a homie from DC who had to do that ) but he still sounds the same.

I understand what you're saying. Black People do this, White people do this but in the opposite way to appeal to blacks.
But if you are claiming to say that all black people sound alike, and you can tell a black person when you obviously haven't met every black person in theworld, you are just plain wrong. You have sterotyped what black people sound like FROM YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES.

Using celebrities to futher your argument isn't even a worthy cause because they use those white voices to appeal to a wider audience and stay acceptableto white people.

Just don't claim to know how every black person in the world or America sounds. Its idiotic and insulting. Good Day.

Then why did the OP say she doesn't like it when black people try to sound Non-Black? I don't get it. So all black people are suppposed to soundsimilar? It doesn't matter where you were born or who you grew up with?

THIS... With that said, I've been brought up to speak proper English. I've also lived in a city my whole life that is majority black (Washington,D.C.). I've learned how to code switch over time. I remember one time when I called one of my ex-girlfriends, her mother picked up the phone. Since I wastaught there is a certain way to speak to adults over the phone, I politely said, "Hello, May I speak to ___________." She went to get her daughter, but before handing her the phone, she asked her, "When did you start talking to white guys?"

honestly, I just hate when anybody tries to hide or fight something that's apart of who they are/ apart of theirculture. That's up there wit' people who bleach their skin....people who try to sound different.....people who try to take on more"assimilating" names.....that's all up there with me.

honestly, I was hoping more non black people would chime in and see if they notice it happening in their communities....

Op is not ******ed for stating her opinion, but she is ******ed for trying to pass it off as fact. Culture can pertain to race and ethnicity at times, but bothare inantly different from each other. You do not have to be a certain race to be a part of a certain culture. To prove that certain ethinicities have a certaintype of voice you would have to find a gene mutation that causes it. There is none.

Its not trying hard for lulz its telling you when you're wrong.

Black people aren't supposed to sound like anything. We just do, we can't helpit the same way we can't help where we were born or raised.

Of course they are exceptions. Duh. There are ALWAYS exceptions.

But my point is why be wavering and question something you already know the majority answer to? For the most part BLACK PEOPLE SOUND ALIKE. Its not a slang thing at all...

I know what you mean op

I talk to people I never will see all day on the phone, and I can tell their race and it has nothing to do with speaking proper, or using correct enunciation.

I also hate when people think if you have a southen accent that you're dumb
