The Houston Chronicle reports Tracy McGrady will change his uniform number from No. 1 to No. 3 to promote his "3 points Darfur" initiative.
Newly acquired Trevor Ariza will wear No. 1 once the switch of numbers becomes official this week for McGrady.

Yeah, I believe he wore 3 when he was at Auburndale but I know he wore 1 when he was at Mt. Zion.

at first, i thought the purpose of changing numbers was to "refresh" his career ala kobe. maybe that has something to do with it too, but the darfurreason is more than cool with me.

why is the process so lengthy now to change jersey numbers? didn't players use to change jersey numbers for new players that were brought in via trades?
