The College Basketball Post

Briscoe, Blackmon returning.

Marcus Lee withdrawing and transferring from UK. Cal said **** off

I came in here to state the obvious as well, this dude Cal basically told Lee to kick rocks.

Make sure y'all hold Cal to the same level of criticism that you held K to with the Thornton situation. :smh:

How did Cal tell him to kick rocks?

After losing out on Bolden Cal definitely wanted Lee back for his experience up front.

Lee just didn't want to compete for his spot.

Two different situations here.

The difference is how they're viewed, not what they do.

No one in the media hoists Cal up a beacon of morality and righteousness like they do K.

Wish Troy stayed another year but I understand leaving especially since he graduated already. Always felt like he was a slight jump shot improvement away from being a lottery guy but guess we'll never see that. Worth having on a D-league team and hoping scout can develop him.

IU should be fine cause OG might honestly be better. Team should be very good next year again.

Wait...how are both situations different then?

K never told Thornton to see the door, Thornton just didn't want to compete for his spot with Frank next season, which is exactly what you're saying is the case with Lee.

Yet people wanna act like K didn't re-up on his scholarship, which we know isn't the truth, seeing as we have no depth at point and Thornton would be added value for us.

How can you paint two extremely similar situations, different colors?

you know how them kentucky fans are....you said it perfectly...situation is basically same...thornton didnt want to compete point blank...

Cal has been trying to convince Lee to come back for the past two weeks according to reports, was K doing the same for Thornton?

Lee said he wants to go somewhere that he can showcase his offensive talent (even though he has none) after getting feedback from the NBA. That wasn't happening at UK, he would've competed with Bam, Gabriel, Willis, Humphries, Wynyard and Killeya-Jones for PT up front.

Duke had a kid leave high school early, gave him the keys to the offense, watched him flop, and then escorted him out the door even though they don't have a real PG.

Lee NEVER had a chance like that at UK, he was always a role player and now he feels like he needs to step his game up if he wants to have a career in basketball after college.

Again, two different situations but let you Duke fans tell it

Cal was only trying to convince him to come back probably cause he learned that bolden wasn't coming....if im not mistaken before hand he was saying that lee is staying in the draft this and that....im sure he wasn't escorted...dude got major minutes...he didnt want to compete for a starting spot...he thought he was going to get the keys to the show...i think he along with his dad and uncle or whatever expected him to get it on a silver platter...if you are confident in your ability then he shouldn't have to worry..jackson was supposed to be a 2 year player anyway...but hey is allowed to leave if he wants and thats ok.....

 I'm just ruffling ya feathers since we have a rivalry.

I will say I'm surprised Lee left, even his brother was on record saying "he's loyal to UK" .. I think once NBA scouts started telling him how terrible his offensive game is, he realized he had to make a move elsewhere considering how loaded our frontcourt is.

I wish him the best.

i just dont get the transfer since he is a senior and he has to sit a year
I'm saying, dudes less than a semester from graduating he could have graduated this summer and been done. Then transfer before the season started and played immediately. Odd decision.

damn in that case yea thats even more weird...didnt know he was that close to completion

Thought Trimble was for sure gone. Didn't eem think he'd wait until the last minute to decide . Hope he capitalizes.

When I was hearing that most GM's at the combine thought he should go back, I was leaning on him coming back. Either way this helps Cowan/Huerter but not shoving in the fire to replace what Trimble does. Jackson is needed now for help at the 3.
Trimble/Cowan
Wiley/Huerter
Nickens/Jackson
Gill
Dodd/Cekovsky
It's a tournament team, we will see just how well they can play.

Still think they are a bubble team at best ...besides Melo , don't think it's a 2nd impact player on the roster...hope one of the freshman can step up right away

Also Malik Newwman talkin bout transferring ? ...that boy fell off, he shoulda just stayed in the draft if he's gon sit out a year anyway :smh:

I think they'll be a solid make for the tourney with Melo back. Not on the bubble.

Look for Wiley to have a big year.
