Got their start with Teddy P. P writing Rump Shaker. Chad on the sax on Jay-Z's "The City Is Mine": P spelling out "S.W.V." on their'93 release "Right Here". They been in the game for a minute now.

But go ahead and say "they're sound is limited" "all their beats sound the same" but hands down, they the best behind the boards.

Name a producer that has hits in every genre.

Let's start it off.

R&B

Usher "You Don't Have To Call" (2001)

Yo man money really dont got nothin to do with producing GOAT caliber music. Now these dudes are good but no. I think you should listen to more producers whohave been doin it for decades.

smokin.gif

i feel ya SLRS. i was listening to COME CLOSE by COMMON and MARY j. after what seems like forever, and i couldn't stop playing it. the tune is just toodamn sick. i'm a bit more partial to their R&B like smooth beats. hell, i can't lie. i got a file on the ipizzle dedicated to Neptune productions.

damn this is a thoro%#%$ appreciation thread. you must of had a lot of time and love for these dudes
laugh.gif

but greatest producers? no
very good producers? yes

When did we start measuring the greatness of a producer by the awards they've won?

Agreed...nobody will ever be able to show me any producer(s) that have done what they've done...the way that they did it.

GOAT in my book. Even their wack joints is hotter than alot of other $#++ to me...

greatest is pretty strong no matter what you are talking about.

So the greatest? no

But very good/great? yes

I agree to an extent, but you have to come with credentials son.
laugh.gif
Youhave to know some Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Quincy Jones, Prince, Darkchild, Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland, some old soul producers. Neptunes are my favoriteproducers, but you have to back up the G.O.A.T. claim in a manner that recognizes the competition. After all, what is it to be the greatest if your competitionisn't acknowledge as being great?

As far as being well rounded...they got it on smash, but GOAT is a tough thing to give away like that

im from 757 and The Neptunes get a huge

Complaints%20thumbs%20down-784494.jpg

not just me, but nobody i know, I MEAN NOBODY i know in the hood bumps any of their songs. no matter who's rappin over it.

Legendary. The Neptunes pretty much set a trend in terms of the futuristic early 2000s sound. Even though they have fallen off slightly, they are stillbetter than most.......

BUT

I think TIM deserves a nod for GOAT considering that he has NEVER fallen off
