THE OFFICIAL A I R M A X DELUXE THREAD

If you've got smaller feet you're good. Anything over a 12, yikes. I paid resale and, for once, don't feel bad about it.

Find it mad you’re having a hard time finding the OGs in the states, they’re sitting everywhere in England and will hit the sales easily

Wow finally got my hands on my pair from the NDC restock. Quality is top notch they did a great job with these. Def way more comfortable than the recent string of AM97s. Surprised by the matertial on the lining, **** feels amazing. Never had the OGs but my 10 yr old self sweated then hard, glad to finally have em.

Seems to be an ongoing trend with Nike. I know historically the Air Max line has done better in Europe, but the allocation to the US on certain models seems ridiculously low.

I feel bad not copping the OG colorway and now I want it lol. I'm glad I did this though to save money. I hope that Women's Blue/Green colorway drops; I honestly like those the most of all.

OG's are still sitting in Sweden. You can get them from sneakersnstuff, caliroots and run for shelta.

Took some comparison shots of my OGs vs retros. Both shoes are US Size 12.

Swirl print is thicker on OG. Contrast between colors seems more defined on retro. Quality of the nylon used upper is nearly identical.

The embossed upper portion of the heel is more defined on the retro. It is also much and I emphasize, MUCH, stiffer than the OG. I saw someone in this thread refer to it as foamposite; and while I don't beleive it to be foam on the retro I can see how one might call it that due to the extremely rigid nature of the material. The orange piping is also much brighter on the retro. Some of this may be due to age and wear, but when I looked at a pair of DS grasshoppers I have, the accent piping is a much paler green than the rest of the shoe as well.

Insoles are a major difference. OGs had a high quality silk screened insole with a unique pattern like most Maxes from the era. Retros are solid orange with screen printed swoosh.

Underside of insoles. OG had a softer foam with a textured forefoot and black ultra soft pad layered on the heel. OG insole is stamped with "MENS RUNNING - Anatomically Engineered". Retro is all black with Nike logo and feels much stiffer, almost like a rubber compound.

Closeup of OG insole. Insole was composed of 4 layers.
1. Screen printed fabric.
2. Ultra soft foam layer (this is the porous black foam line you see in the pic). Material is similar to the spenco sourced insoles used on more recent Jordan retros.
3. Textured dense foam layer.
4. Ultra soft pad layered on bottom of heel.

Image limit is 10 pics per post. I'll post the rest here shortly.

Inside, under insole.

OG
20180826_145659.jpg

Padded nylon material stitched down the center provides additional cushioning. Very typical of Maxes of the era.

Retro
20180826_145705.jpg

Flat, side stitched underfoot area. Appears to be a synthetic felt type material. Provides a touch of additional cushion compared to the almost fiberglass-like material found under the insoles in many retros. Nowhere near as cushioned as the OG though.

Outsole as we all know is no longer translucent on retro. 25/5 psi monikers are also gone from all shoes using the 97 setup.

Reflective hash marks:

The hash marks are my biggest gripe with this release and the only legitimate QC issue. There is flashing left over around the edges, whereas the OG had perfect edges.

Bonus shot. OG grasshopper vs retro for shape comparison DS to DS since my OG arctics are far from perfect.

Man I wish they drop that grasshopper colorway. It’s beautiful

How do these rate on cushioning?

Read somewhere that the most recent AM97s are like cement.

I presume these are no better?
They SURELY don’t feel like OG’s. First thing I though when I put them on was that the cushioning felt a little too solid
