The Official NBA Season Thread: Free Agency Day

MPJ does nothing a big does. On both sides of the ball, he’s on the perimeter. Rebounding doesn’t make you a big either. Let’s be real. AG is tough but he also has guards skills.

Your favorite this is to bring up Dwight and Javale. True centers. Same thing with those Celtics backups you named.
We’re just gonna have to differ in opinion regarding AG and MPJ’s impact against the Lakers inside the paint.

MPJ bangs in the paint to average double digits in rebounds in the playoffs against the Lakers. Just cause he doesn’t post up and just cause he lived in the perimeter offensively, doesn’t mean he don’t play like a big. The dude can defend power forwards and play small ball center if needed. That makes him a big in today’s NBA, especially at 6’10.” They call those stretch bigs.

Barkley is 6’5” and posts up and lives in the paint and is, as you know, the round mound of rebound. Yes he is a big because he plays big. Just like Draymond, who is only 6’8” if that.

If the Lakers had anyone who plays like Dwight and Javale next to AD, it automatically neutralizes anything AG and MPJ does against the Lakers because AD would then play PF against AG and Bron switches to MPJ, which gives LAL all the advantages.

Man, what? He's only making an appearance if the score gets way out of hand. He's not seeing the floor unless it's garbage time.
If it’s not Queta, then it should be Kornet who plays key minutes.

Either way, it would be to Boston’s advantage to utilize Al, KP, and one of Queta or Kornet for at least 8-12 min per, because so got a good feeling former Laker assistant coach JKidd is going to try to use size and length as an advantage in the Finals, which means a heavy dose of Gafford, Lively, Kleber against Boston’s front court, with PJ likely on Tatum for most of the series

As a Lakers fan, I prefer BOS sits Queta and Kornet all series so DAL can have the size advantage.

MPJ’s grabbing uncontested rebounds because he’s guarding Rui who just stands in the corner. Rui is a perimeter player too. MPJ absolutely hand nothing for Lebron

Draymond and Barkley are bigs because they guard bigs primarily. If you think MPJ is a big, what would you consider Tatum? SGA scores in the paint and lead the Thunder in rebounds against the Mavs, is he a big?

If Tatum plays power forward and guards power forwards then that means he’s a big in modern NBA standards imo
