My thoughts on the journalist and the Embiid thing:
1. First of all, Joel Embiid may very well have an injury. If so, he shouldn't have played in the Olympics, because it's not like he picked up an injury in the meantime. You invite a TON of scrutiny if you participate in a physical, high stakes off-season tournament, and then turn around and say you're saving yourself for the playoffs. THEN DON'T PLAY IN THE OLYMPICS. Terrible optics on his part. Kawhi Leonard is another example. Just buzz off with your "injury" nonsense.
2. The columnist has every right to call out Embiid for just deciding to play when he feels like it. The line about his brother wasn't even that bad, honestly, as there was context provided. Also, I can only imagine if 90s-era Peter Vecsey was covering this Sixers team over the past decade. Embiid would have murdered him five years ago. Vecsey was ruthless with the Knicks, even in their 90s heyday. Modern NBA players wouldn't even know what to do with old school NBA writers.
3. Philly Fans: They've been getting robbed blind by ownership and management for over a decade. Don't give money to this franchise. They are not a serious franchise. As he said, he only wants to be there for the playoffs. Okay, then just sit out the regular season entirely and see how it goes. Also, Philly needs to refund its fans for a decade-plus of nonsense. Also, wake me up when Embiid makes it to a conference finals.
