The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Begins | Embiid Debut | Klay Return

It’s not that teams aren’t playing defense (maybe some are, but not all), it’s just a lot harder to do it now. Teams are playing 4-5 out with guys capable of hitting 3s at a good clip. Have to defend them out there, but those same guys are so athletic they can also blow by.

And again, this isn’t the first time scoring has been high in the league.

I appreciate all the times Jim dropped 40+ back in 2018/19
Which is more impressive? Jim doing that in 2018.

Or Kobe in 2K2-2K3?

Someone mentioned ratings were down. Unlike football, the other sports have to do more gimmicks to create excitement. Changing the rules has led to these type of explosions. Prime Kobe might have scored 100 with these rules.

Tmac would be more like PG in todays game
Iverson would be more dominant in that paint than Temetrius today

Kobe and that contested midrange was such low percentage decision making lol but that just makes it more impressive lol

Seems like a lot of players have been 'in the zone' lately. What do you guys think?

HIM HIM lawdog1 lawdog1
Funny you mention that because I am actually working a deep dive on the scientific factors contributing to the increase in Zone frequency. I expect to have a fully referenced paper on it ready for publication later in the year. Stay tuned....

I’ve heard arguments of why Lebron would thrive in the ugly ball era (height, athleticism, b ball IQ).

MJ would put up a 40 or 50. But obviously, he was more focused on winning. And the three ball was never his strong suit (because it was more a specialist skill besides a maniac like Reggie).

It literally is a game to exploit the game. That’s what I’ll give Harden and More (sp).
