I had my criticism of Levy & the sad sack side he built around Bale, but I like some of the talent he's gotten in this summer transfer window. It looks like he & AVB might be getting French defensive midfielder Etienne Capoue from from Ligue 1 Toulouse for a reported £9m transfer.

Speaking of Ronaldo, I can't believe it's been 10 years since his debut at Man United. Wow, time flies.

No one really knew what they were getting at first.

It's funny how Madrid fans hated the buy of Modric at first, now they are calling him the next Pirlo.

And to think Chelsea was so close to getting him 2 years ago. :smh:

Pirlo? Who said that?

Most Madrid fans didn't hate the signing, was a little surprising because we didn't need him and he wasn't the sexy big name people wanted last summer.

Gervinho's deal is a permanent deal. United with his former coach, who can hopefully get the best out of him like he did in his Lille days. Best of luck to him. As frustrating of a player he was at Arsenal, certainly did bring something that other players didn't

Wellington Silva is loaned to another Spanish club again. Good chance we'll let him go next year. Granted, it depends on how things go. But frankly, things haven't been going great. He's had a good preseason playing with the reserve team. The potential is there but his attitude may still be an issue.
I'm not sure how close we were to signing Bernard. I know we were scouting him and I'm not sure we've made an initial bid. My initial concern was his price, especially since I didn't know much about him. But seeing what he was sold for, I still think the price was too high. Considering that we still seem to be going after Suarez and have other players to buy.

@LeFrenchGooner According to @MikaMartinHaim now, El Jadeyaoui is officially an Arsenal player (he was right about the RvP deal last year.) He's a Ligue 2 player, 26yo and currently on trial at Arsenal. So, yea...that's that

Reporters did label him one of the worst Madrid signings ever

:wow: at that table  guess we've been doing addition by subtraction but if it remains like that then the board should be embarrassed

If Bale does stay, I'm very interested in how well the Spurs will do this season. They've had a great transfer window. It'd be fun to watch.

If he does go, they need to do it sooner than later - use all that money before the transfer window closes.

The Chelsea manager has seen two bids , the latest one believed to be in the region of £25 million, rejected by David Moyes who maintains the striker will not be sold.
But with Rooney agitating for a move and poised to hand a transfer request in, Mourinho is waiting in the wings and ready to act once given the green light by the 27 year-old’s advisors.
Certainly images of Rooney training with United reserves yesterday will have pleased Mourinho who was licking his own wounds after a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Real Madrid inflicted the Portuguese’s first defeat of his second coming at Chelsea.
“We are far away so we are not in England to know every detail but, we are doing things in the correct way,” said Mourinho.
“We made the bid and Manchester United have reacted, let see what happens. But we can’t do more than we are doing now.

“We are doing things legally, making the official bid directly to the club, no interviews or comments or direct relations with the player, no contact, absolutely nothing.
“We are doing everything in an ethical way, so lets see if things change.
“There is no time limit. We have our squad of strikers. We have identified the player as one we would look to have with us.
“We have done it in an ethical way and we are going to do that until the last day.
“And we will see how it comes.”
Chelsea’s final match of their four game US tour is on Saturday in Washington DC against AS Roma and while there has been much for Mourinho to be pleased about in terms of promising youngsters with Kevin De Bruyne , Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel and Andre Schurrle all impressing, the need for a stellar striker remains his top priority.
Asked if he would be happy to begin the season without Rooney on board, Mourinho added: “What we have is what we have.
“We have very good young players, they don’t need us to buy players to replace them. What they need is our trust and work and our support.”
Certainly Brazilian defender David Luiz will not be leaving the Stamford Bridge club after Chelsea instantly rejected Barcelona’s 35 m GBP bid on Tuesday with Mourinho urging them not to waste any more time with further advances.
“It’s lost time for them. My advice to them is to go to the second player on their list because they are wasting their time,” he said.
“We don’t want to lose our best players. No chance.”

The coming together of the Portuguese and his former club less than three months after their bitter parting of the ways ensured it was a difficult night for Mourinho in the stifling Miami humidity who was roundly booed by the predominantly Real Madrid supporting crowd at the Sun Life Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, who saw a fantastic brace from Cristiano Ronaldo help the Spaniards life the inaugural Guinness International Champions Cup with a 3-1 victory.
Ramires, who cancelled out Marcelo’s first half strike, was Chelsea’s most impressive performer but Mourinho knew why Real may have outclassed the Premier League side.
Carlo Ancelotti’s players have been based here for three days while Chelsea have flown in and out of the Washington DC base on matchdays.
“This was a friendly, so there was no celebrations when we won friendlies, and no dramas because we lost,” he added.
“We could see the difference in approach from both teams. They have been here for three days, they are preparing for this match.
“I know the have trained once a day and I know one of those days was a recovery session.
“They play with the best team for the first minute and they made their first change when it was 3-1. We had a completely different approach.
“I need to see my players. I need to make conclusions.”

So that settles that. People really thought Jose was going to sell his best defender to the team he hates more than anything in the world.

At Ibras height, if he couldnt dunk that would be an embarrassment. im sure Ronaldo can easily dunk as well. Dudes vertical against Evra in the CL will be something i remember for a long time

I'm waiting for PSV to sell that Williabhgam or however you spell it kids name. Dude is a beast on fifa lmao

 Ibra would look mad awkward I bet too...No doubt Christiano would be able to dunk, he has incredible athleticism and I'd bet if he dedicated time to almost any sport like he did football he'd be very good at it, dude is just an incredible athlete...they should let him run the point in some EuroBasket presesson games for RM

Now if messi could get up then I'd be :wow: :wow:

This NBC sports coverage for EPL is gonna be sooooo dope though I'm excited no more low quality Internet streams :smokin especially if your provider is signed o with them you get every game not televised online and on demand for replays too, so awesome.

In DC for work (and Chelsea/Roma on Saturday). We decided to stroll around after dinner. Came across part of Roma's squad in front of the White House.

Wish I had a camera on me to get a picture in the low light, but I did get to shake DDR's hand.

He seemed kind of aggrevated after I and a couple of others recognized him.

A cool moment, tho...

They did dislike the signing. Hell, during champions league they mentioned how the fans weren't happy with RM signing him and he has managed to come in handy on a few occasions.
