With so much time at home these days I've been watching full length old NBA games... Saw Bill Simmons tweet about 1990 Game 5 Lakers vs Suns.

First observation was WOW @ the style of play. The defense being played was comical. Wish the refs would allow that level on non-calls in 2020.

Second was "OMG they let Magic Johnson get away with carrying the ball on literally EVERY SINGLE possession!" Kinda surprised people don't make a bigger deal of it because it was SO blatant and gave him a ridiculous advantage.

Third was "HOLY S*** is Kevin Johnson a top 5 most underrated player ever?" Phoenix SMACKED a 63 win Lakers squad in that series in what looked like a year they should have def been in the finals. I ended up looking at KJ's wikipedia page and can't believe how lazy/negligent NBA medical staffs were in the late 80's and early 90's to the point where two hernias can go undiagnosed for 4 consecutive seasons and basically end a star player's career. Like did they not have easy access to MRI's or something??
