What happened to hood movies?

Me and a girl were talking about going to the movies when I realized that I barely even go anymore. Bootlegs, internet...etc. have stopped me from hitting theatres like I used to. But then I thought? What happened to hood movies? I remember me and my dudes smoked some dro and went to go see Paid in Fullopening weekend...it was great. what happened......remember when Belly hit theatres, *%% was crazy.

Belly, Juice, New Jack City, Dead Presidents, etc..

Can't really think of any good hood movies that dropped after 2000
