The funny thing: most of these shoes that are going for crazy amounts now are shoes that sat and went on sale. DMP VII's pack was going for like the price of one pair of shoes at one point. Raging Bulls were selling below retail. Now it's just madness.
There are releases that I've missed out on over the years due lack of funds. Happens. I'll be damned if I'm going to just hand over double retail for a pair of Retros, most of the time ones with average quality. I'd rather do without.
Two people tried to get me to drop $300+ on Volt Griffeys. "Just look at recently sold pairs bro, you're getting a steal."
They've relisted several times since then with no takers.
If you're willing to pay a premium, a seller will take it.
I've played the waiting game and it hasn't failed me.
Luckily I'm into more than just J's so the steals I get on other Nike's + the outlet cops help to even it all out.
One more thing, some of those auctions get pumped up by people who have figured out methods to get away with "shill bidding" by basically having someone they know push their auctions up. Some of those auctions don't tell the true story as they're not always sold for those final values.
