Is it necessary to discredit people like Drake and Rick Ross because they tell tales. I think acting and storytelling has been a big part of hip hop for a while and a good story isnt always real.

If you watch the interview Shyne brings up a nice example of a false statement that im pretty sure Drake won't live up to. The WWE is pretty freaking entertaining and Im sure Rick Ross doesnt go home counting kilos., I think your silly if you think so. Anytime an artist is being recorded audio/video, theyre on the clock There are so many rappers whos image is fabricated and its been that way for a while. No one knows why they shot at Chris, and what makes Drake so easy to dislike? I appreciate what Drake does, **** is sonically pleasing. It can't be easy to make it where he is today so I can't ever understand why people can't appreciate that.
Rick Ross and Drake aren't in the same box here. Drake's identity isn't mired in something that he isn't. He does not rap about being a gangster. People don't like Drake because he's an easy guy not to like...period.
The problem w/ people like Rick Ross isn't just them lying in their music. His ENTIRE image is fabricated. It's like the WWE...except The Undertaker probably isn't still pretending to be The Undertaker anywhere else outside of the ring.
You can't excuse the music being a lie and pass it off as entertainment...when they're trying to convince everyone that they live their lives outside of music the same way.
That's why Rick Ross was picking up death threats from GD's last year. It's why Chris Brown is being shot at.
Again...The Undertaker doesn't pretend to be The Undertaker anywhere outside of that ring.

Like you said, rappers work very hard to sell their image bc it goes along with the tales they tale and Rick works very hard at that. If someone takes him for something more than an entertainer that makes him a damn good salesman. It really doesnt matter to me bc I never really considered Ross more than an entertainer and if that is enough to persuade you I think its something deeper than music to make you try to emulate these things.

That's the difference. William Roberts REALLY wants to you believe that he's Rick Ross. If those WWE dudes go out to party after a show...chances are you're not going to walk in VIP and see The Undertaker wearing all black with his eyes rolled to the back of his head.
These rappers really want you to believe they are who they say they are. Why do you think social media is so important for entertainers? It's a way to connect w/ their audience in an even more personal fashion.
In this image crazy society...a rapper's image is just as important as his music...so that's why have to do so much outside of music to show their fans that they are real. That's why when Vice cameras show up to the Migos house for a documentary...they run to the back and bring the automatic weapons out and put the lean on display.
These things aren't as harmless and you make them seem when these people hold a ridiculous amount of influence over many. People get shown fabrication long enough and buy it as reality....eventually it does become reality.
If there's nothing wrong with this as you say...wouldn't Rick Ross be able to become William Roberts when he's not making a song or shooting a video and tell people that none of what he's saying is real and is just entertainment? It should be...but you and I both know that would never happen...because it's important for his brand for people to buy in to what he's trying to portray.

And again, when you're being recorded through any mediums (social media) youre on the clock.
I think all art is amoral bc as ppl we have the ability to create something that is somehow aesthetically pleasing. When i see a violent movie, its entertaining, when I hear old gangster songs its entertaining, I have no way to tell whether their stories are real or not bc I like getting caught into the story. Listeining to old em is great bc .is sounds great even though he talks about rape and murder (about his mother nonetheless), he has the ability to make it an awesome story bc the songs are. Music is an expression and an art form that represents intrinsic thoughts regardless of whats right or wrong. And whats honorable about selling what Rick Ross or anyone like him is selling?
Promoting ******** that we suffer from...that's cool?
Also...if you understand what music is...or sound for that matter...and its relationship with the brain than you'd understand how music influences.
There's a reason why television and radio are the most powerful tools in our existence.
Except for the fact that the art form YOUR people created...seems to be the only art form that has flipped completely upside down from it's original intent and been polluted w/ themes and ideologies that don't help YOUR people get out of the ******** they're in...but instead keep and drive them even further in it. It not only has a negative effect on everyone...but YOUR people especially....and it's owned, governed, and regulated by people OUTSIDE of your culture.
