I was thinking about this the other day asked a bunch of the homies and almost exactly half said Juicy J half said 2Chainz
They're both rap vets Juicy being in the game since the early 90s with 3-6, 2Chainz since the early 00's with DTP.
Both put out good albums last year IMO
And both these ****** have been all over the radio in the last few years
It seemed like 2Chainz sat back, studied the rap game and tailored his approach to what was hot. With basically a whole new image, new name, new adlibs (TRUUUUUU) and a dumbed down but wittier rapping style that allowed his charisma to carry his songs, he came through and turned himself into arguably one of the hottest rappers of the last few years
Juicy came a little left field also tho, both rappers have a good ear for beats but I think Juicy J's ear helped him more than anything. He hooked up with ****** like Lex Luger and Mike Will and blended remnants of the old 3-6 sound with the trap beats, his new **** is noticeably different but in a way still feel like the same ole juicemane. Being affiliated with Wiz when he was blowing up prolly didn't hurt either
In a way this is really kinda like Juicy J's 3rd or 4th reinvention, with 3-6 he went through the Tear Da Club up phase, the Stay Fly/Poppin My Collar phase, the Lolli Lolli
phase, and now here today. Dat longevity
They're usually aren't second chances like this in rap, as fans we're so fickle once you lose that initial buzz it's pretty much over with, but these 2 dudes pulled it off both at like 35+ too
So who ya'll think "came back" better?
