Will Smith = Greatest Typecast Escaping Actor Ever!

Now, putting aside his ambiguous comments about Hitler...

I think Will Smith beats most actors out there anyday. I just saw I AM LEGEND and was just amazed at his acting.

He EASILY escaped his Fresh Prince typecast. Escaping that typecast has to be the hardest part of acting for a man like him. Imagine Mark Paul Gosselar (ZackMorris) trying to do any acting gig other than SBTB (i.e. - law and order?). It's damn near impossible for him to escape the Zack typecast.

What do you guys think?

What I think really helped him is that, in Fresh Prince of Bel Air his real name was used. Over wise he would have had a extremely hard time getting away fromthe name of his character.

I get what you're saying totally. But he will still always be the Fresh Prince, but that's not gonna be the only thing he is known for.



There will be some people that weren't quite old enough to see F.P. when it was on regularly, but might have known him from Independence Day as some noname guy.



It's good to see he has grown as an actor. He will be the next Denzel.



But that Zach Morris thing is on point. He really hasn't done a whole lot of other stuff since S.B.T.B. Same way as Screech. There's no way that guywill ever escape that.
 
Let me say 1st Will Smith is a great actor.

Now the typecast you mention is very old and its a tv show, its not like he woulda been typecasted to Fresh Prince Of Bel Air movies. I only remmeber 1 moviewhere he was a nerd n I think he was gay in it(that movie with Whoopi Goldberg n that whaite guy from Cheers n in the movie the girl found out she had a whitedad). I dont see any typecasting threat for Will Smith dude just proved himself in certain movies now he coulda been typecasted when he went from IndependenceDay and MIB but he showed some skill in that fugitive movie with Gene Hackman. I want to know when Will Smith be in a movie without a scene where he is runningdude been running for the past 5 movies he stay dashin in empty streets or open fields.

Ya comparision/example is bad as well Zack from Saved By the Bell CAN'T ACT!(theres a difference between lack of acting talent and being typecasted) dudewas basically the real life HS Bart Simpson he's been in other stuff on tv a cop I think a rapist on Lifetime I think dude just sucks he probably played aguy in some movie as well. I even remember some movie where he was the bf of that chick from Full House.

Will Smith may not be the best actor but there is no way in hell you compare him and Cage. Smith >>>>>>>>>>Cage. Cage isone of the worst actors I have ever seen.

In all honesty he was only good on Fresh Prince
but he was entertaining to me in MIB and BB2.
Other than that I never enjoyed any movies he's done.

), starred in one of the funniest sitcoms ever, and now is one of the mostversatile/most consistent box office draws. Definitely an idol in terms how to be successful the right way

I, Robot... He stars with Jessica Biel I think in that movie. He was a so so actor but he didn't had that Fresh Prince attitude in it.
 
he is a great actor. i am legend blew, but he played his part well.
