Not soon enough.

"social networking"...c'mon now..why the hell you need to let people know where you are at any given point?

I never caught on to myspace, fb or twitter...call me a hater, call me sour.

looks like its here to stay. I just signed up for Twitter and its pretty fun. Makes you feel like some of these celebrities that update on there. Shaq isalways coming with funny updates and giving away free stuff. Check the Sig

I can see the reasoning behind using the apps...i.e., reconnecting with old classmates, long distance friends...but really, do you need tomyspace, facebook and twitter people you just finished seeing or in some cases, standing right next to? And grown ##! people too.

Nobody's thoughts are that important that i have tofollow them throughout the day. Twitter seems cool but after a while its gonna get very old.

It's all cyclical we'll get tired of blogging/twittering as we get older and then the next generation will have something new to call their own.

By the way blog and twitter in the sig

But you probably clamor for more and more of your friends' incessant status updates, right? Get with the program...

i dont think this answers the question at all. i believe OP is asking whether the social networking/blogging/constant online updating will cometo an end as a whole.

i can imagine it being cyclical with a new site constantly taking over. thats seemingly inevitable with revenues from these types of sites driving a lot ofcompetition. but to answer OP's question, nope the whole putting my life online thing will be the minimum standard.

i remember when being on a messageboard was like what computer nerds did. and having online profiles to anything. shh is so standard now. you know times arechanging when hood folks are getting online hard core

What program?

Status updates? Then what the hell does twitter run on? Mindless bloggin status updates.
FB is a stripped down version of myspace, nice to not have to go through all that glamour and glitter and massive load times.
There is alot on facebook that twitter cant cover, picture uploads, inboxing, event planning, etc etc.
Twitter IS the status part of facebook.

I don't have a twitter, but I think twitter will eventually be bigger than these social networking sites.

The reason being is its a lot easier to use. I mean, you can text whatever you want to say, from your phone to twitter. Anybody can do it.

People say nobody needs to know people's random thoughts, or what they're doing 24/7 but, twitter is basically like an answering machine.

Post what you post and people respond. It's like AIM without being as personal.

Pretty much my question....

Take out Myspace comments, and Facebook wall posts, and for the most part what do you got?

A Flikr more or less.

Take out those things and would Myspace and Facebook be as big?

Not at all.

That's what twitter basically is. Myspace and Facebook, without all the extras. The core of it, which is keeping in touch with people.

Isn't that why we have conversations? Phones?

I'm not attacking you or anyone...I just don't see the acclaim of it all. I rather send a simple text than to go through the whole log-in, loadingprocess.

This whole "social networking" is an oxymoron because it is accomplishing the opposite...impersonal interactions.

Twitter on the other hand I feel if you aren't semi-important, whats the need when theres Facebook?
Do I really need to know what my friends are doing every waking moment? What kind of 2 ply tissue they wiped their %!$ with? What they ate for breakfast? Etc.
one the same, you and I are.

Blogging is cool. the other stuff is overkill
