My dad used to tell me this when I was younger, there is always somebody better. Don't take things for granted and get lazy.

Date someone that makes YOU happy. Don't date to please and look good to others, for whatever reason it is. Nine times out of ten you'll end up miserable. This ties in to dating people for the right reasons. Be with someone because you want to be with them and truly enjoy them and not for selfish reasons such as not wanting to look like a loser to "friends and family"
