Definitely wouldn't give it that low of a score. Still liked season 3 better (Mahershala acted his *** off), but I still think this was good. I didn't hate season 2 either.

I still liked the show… my biggest disappointment was the season 1 Easter eggs amounted to nothing. Why bring up the rust cohle, spirals, the Tuttles, and flat circles if it ultimately didn’t matter at all to the plot of the story?

Well I guess it served its purpose because it hooked me with those tricks got me with the okie doke

I remember not feeling remotely entertained by S2 while watching, but just wanted to see if they’d turn it around by the end, which they didn’t.

I did think there were entertaining things about this season, but a bunch could’ve been done better.

Will have to do a re-watch of S2 soon now that S4 is fresh on my mind.

I've never rolled my eyes harder than when dude uttered "time is a flat circle" in the finale.

Overall, I was reasonably entertained this season. I don't mind how the story went, but didn't like the exestuation as much.
Still too many unanswered tidbits and a lot of the details ended up being just random and not really related to the overall plot.
But I would still place this ahead of S2.

On a side note, Mare of Easttown has been sensational.

Like 3 episodes in…but one theme I like them playing on is how everybody is straight up desensitized and down right ugly to each other. As the breakdown of society furthers. People taking selfies with the corpses. Kids skating near the corpses. Everybody at the skating rink going business as usual. Life goes on, as terror spreads. The deputy dude specialist friend etc being completely shocked at how much time spent with the corpse etc.

Makes their hardened tones and attitudes seem realer

That's why I said that was pretty much the best part of season four. Jodie was acting in episode six though.

I was laughing at them totally going against the tone of the whole show with that indigenous female revenge plot. It was so out of the blue. I think that was the first time I laughed during the entire show.

Plus I'm wondering who folded their clothes, since they just took them off. The women were so nice that after they took their clothes off they folded them and made everything nice and neat
