Good for Messi. I'm glad he's leaving a clearly toxic environment. Makes you stop and wonder about the depth of putridity of the organization when a man who had pledged himself to Barça after they took a flier on him in youth is even ready to turn away now.

Also, per his 1-year extension agreement with the club; you could probably make a valid argument that the timeline for the exercising of that "free-leave" clause shifted within the context of the year because of force majeure. It's definitely something to analyze - whether the timing of execution of the clause was based upon the conclusion of the running season, or arbitrarily picked as a date.
