do you have a link to an article or interview in which he said it. It seems like a fake quote that people incorrectly quote. At that point in time Messi had come off a 16 goal season and hadn’t won a CL/BdO. It really wouldn’t make sense for a guy like Kobe who understands and appreciates history to put a then potentially great player over the accomplished athletes who’d actually fought for and earned their titles and individual accolades.

Kobe was part of the reason I was able to stand my ground when I started to play soccer instead of basketball like all my other cousins (I was bunz at basketball not even gonna lie).
