Real have the least league goals conceded in the top 5 leagues (13.) If someone told me a year ago that this could happen with just Marcelo being changed out in defense, I wouldn’t have believed it.

You gotta give props not just to Zizou, but to a lot of the individuals. T-bo rediscovered his form, Mendy being lockdown, Casemiro being the best in his position, Ramos turning 34 soon and being at his best defensively, fingers crossed Varane continues to stay fit. And then you add the talented and tireless Valverde into the equation. It’s not easy for a group to just change its identity.

This also goes to show why I don’t run a football club, because I was fine with blowing it up after last year’s disaster.
