As much as I hate that Zizou and the squad are in this situation, I’m glad that the board is taking his inexplicable omissions of Valverde and Mendy as seriously as I and other fans have.

I just don't understand what he was trying to prove, it's baffling.
It's the two players that allow your team to operate at its best defensively.

Mendy actually plays the position of LB, which allows Casemiro & Ramos not be all over the place. Valverde can cover a ton of ground up and down the flanks, breaks lines, helps everywhere in the midfield, both young are sitting for no reason.

Its just dumb.

The Valverde omission is the one that I really can’t get over. With Marcelo you could sort of make the case he improves us in attack and we struggle to score, but Valverde improves the squad in both phases, and it’s not like we had to rotate players due to a busy schedule.

If we don’t win the league, I think this is the match that many people will look back to. Fresh of a Clasico win, league leaders, opportunity to capitalize on gaining that momentum, and all just squandered in a week due to terrible team selection.

Marcelo isn't doing much in attack in either, outside a few decent performances he's just as washed as he was last season. Watching him dive in on every tackle and missing is just cringe.
