Na, can't see it.

Liverpool and Arsenal don't get along after that Suarez fight they had. Wenger will spend but I don't think he'll gamble, their is a difference. Plus giving a 20 y/o kid a 150k week salary - No way. He'd rather spend money on someone more proven.

City on the other hand love gambles and have no problem giving him that type of cash.
Is he really that much of a gamble. Proven in the league, his transfer I dont think will be more than Ozil. Regardless I don't see him staying in Liverpool past Aug. Liverpool better sell him now or he can buy himself out for very cheap

So Barca's going after Gundogan AND Pogba?

Ramsey as well.

Barcelona is planning a 50 million pound bid for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The Spanish club is continuing to scout the Wales international and is set to press ahead with a move despite being under a transfer embargo..

Source from The Sun.

So Barca's going after Gundogan AND Pogba?

I think it's one or the other. By given that Bartomeu is trying to win the election, I think he may even try to get both (even though it's redundant).

So what does that mean for Sergi Samper and Halilovic?

I think Samper should get loaned out. I would love to see him at Everton or Sevilla. Both have strong coaches. There are whispers that he maybe included in a deal with Juve to get Pogba which would be a real shame. I think he's one of the best La Masia players to come out in a long time.

After seeing Halilovic for most of the campaign, he still needs a lot of time on the B squad. He's got the same problems Deulofeu has in that he constantly tries to do a little too much. He doesn't have Gerry's ego problems though...

:lol @ the Ramsey to Barca transfer rumor...

Chelsea's Eden Hazard and Jose Mourinho have won the Premier League's official player and manager awards for 2014-15.

Eden Hazard won the Premier League's Player of the Season award Friday, with his manager at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, also earning plaudits.

Premier League sponsor Barclays announced Hazard's achievement and Mourinho as the Manager of the Season on its Twitter feed.

Hazard — who was also awarded the PFA Players' Player of the Year Award last month and the Football Writers' Association honor Thursday — has scored 14 goals in the Premier League this season and set up nine others in 37 appearances for Chelsea, with one game left in the season.

Mourinho led Chelsea to the league title — his third with the London-based club and first in his second stint at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea sits eight points clear of last season's champion Manchester City heading into the final weekend of the 2014-15 campaign.

:hat

Hazard is expected to miss Chelsea's final Premier League game of the season against Sunderland after having emergency dental surgery to remove three wisdom teeth.

The Blues welcome Sunderland to Stamford Bridge on Sunday knowing if we avoid defeat we will end the season as the only team in all four divisions not to be beaten at home in the league.

Before looking ahead to the game, however, Mourinho wanted to praise club legend and our all-time top scorer Lampard ahead of his departure to the MLS.

‘In the same way I said a few words about Steven Gerrard, I have to do the same, with even more emotion, about Frank Lampard, who is also playing his last match in the Premier League,’ said the Chelsea manager.

‘He is one of my best players ever, best professionals ever, a Chelsea legend and a legend in the Premier League. It’s the last match for Frank and obviously I have to honour him and wish him the best in the States. I hope he will be back in England as soon as possible because people like him make this country much better, he’s a big loss for English football.’

The Portuguese then provided his thoughts on how it feels to be named Manager of the Season for the third time in England, having previously taken the prize in 2004/05 and 2005/06.

‘I was not waiting for it, I was never Manager of the Month, but I’m happy with it,’ he stated. ‘It’s a club trophy, not an individual one. It’s for me, my assistants, my players, everybody who works with me.

‘It’s something you don’t just get by yourself. It’s the icing on the cake but I work for the cake. The Premier League is the real cake but obviously to be the Manager of the Season is nice.’

Do you know a french guy by the name of Arsene Wenger?

Cause if you do, you'll know that's not happening. :lol
Ehh, we got Alexis last summer, I would like to think that Wenger would look to add more to the roster with Chelsea so strong and the Manchester squad's reloading. I hope he doesn't believe we can stay pat and look to compete for the trophy next year.

Although it is being reported that we are set to get Arturo Vidal :hat
Who's reporting that? I'd be okay with missing the boat on Pogba if Arsenal could land Vidal, but I can't see it. The idea of the play between Vidal and Alexis, though :hat

Chelsea should go all in for Pogba and Sterling this summer. With a big player in the middle with Matic, there should be no reason to play zouma out of position.

Sterling is the only player besides Bale that could challenge Willian for his spot in the XI

The blues are in good shape to form a champions league quality team this summer - I wouldnt mind them selling Cech, Oscar, Ramires, and Salah

Hull & Newcastle prepare for €70m relegation showdown

May 22, 2015 13:56:00
Tumbling out of England's top flight can leave as much as an €84m hole in a struggling club's accounts - and a bumper new TV deal in 2016 will only make the fall more painful

When Newcastle and Hull City take to the field with Premier League survival in mind on Sunday, they will be painfully aware that relegation brings with it more than just sporting consequences.

Short of the kind of financial catastrophe that engulfed Leeds United or Portsmouth, dropping from the first to the second tier deals the harshest blow to a struggling club's accounts that English football can offer.

Deloitte's Sports Business Group estimate the loss of income – from TV, sponsorship and competition prize money – to be between €56 million and €70m, despite a Premier League parachute payment of €32m. To highlight the gulf, Championship clubs receive around €5.6m per season; under the current TV deal the club that finishes 20th in the top flight is guaranteed €86m.

Rob Wilson, sports finance expert from Sheffield Hallam university, thinks the total cost might even reach €84m – or, to put it in perspective, 71 per cent of Hull's entire turnover for the year ending June 2014 – for a relegated Premier League club that fails to adequately trim its wage budget.

The club most in danger of suffering that fate is Newcastle. Goal understands that few, if any, of the current squad have relegation wage clauses written into their contracts – another sign of the creeping complacency that has displaced ambition during Mike Ashley's unpopular reign at St James' Park.

"Financial stability in the Championship may not have been in the club's contemplation when they were negotiating contract terms, but it should have been," Andrew Crudge, associate at Thomas Eggar LLP insists. "It's absolutely vital that contracts cover all possible scenarios – good or bad.

"Players demanding Premier League salaries in the Championship could place crippling pressure on the club's finances. Clubs may not like the idea of planning for relegation, but a failure to include this in player contracts could be a hugely expensive mistake."

Newcastle's only alternative on sinking into the Championship would be no more palatable to supporters. "You would expect a fire sale at Newcastle if they relegated, because they won’t be able to afford all of those players next year," Wilson tells Goal.

Those thousands in the 'Ashley Out' brigade would also likely be disappointed. "In many ways, Ashley's stuck with Newcastle if they go down," Wilson adds. "He's invested somewhere in the region of £300m (€420m) into that club and there's no way he’ll get any of that back if they go into the Championship. He's going to need to stick around if he wants to get any sort of return."

Yet for all of Newcastle's problems it is Hull, two points and one vital place below, who are staring down the barrel. Goal understands all of Steve Bruce's players will automatically see their wages reduced by at least 20 per cent if the club drops into the Championship, though divisive owner Assem Allam will find himself in the same boat as Ashley. "The sale price of the club will go down significantly and he wants to get his money back - he's invested about £70m (€98m)," Wilson continues.

As more established Premier League clubs with greater commercial profiles, Newcastle and Hull would have to absorb a greater initial hit than Burnley and QPR. This is because most top-flight sponsorship deals carry the same kind of relegation clauses that smart clubs insert into players' contracts, and so would decrease in value.

Burnley, having budgeted for an instant return to the Championship, are the best prepared. "They will likely have had 'league retention clauses' in their contracts because they probably half-expected to go down, so they'll be in decent shape," Wilson reveals. He estimates the Clarets will have gained as much as €98m from their one season with the big boys - €86m from TV revenue, a prize money bonus if they finish above QPR and sponsorship income.

QPR's situation is rather more complicated. The club's previous tumble into the Championship in the summer of 2013 – despite a wage bill that outstripped Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund – resulted in a whopping €91.5m loss that breached the Football League's financial restrictions.

Tony Fernandes and his fellow shareholders reduced the arrears to just €13.7m for the year ending May 2014 primarily by writing off €84m in loans, and talks are ongoing with the Football League to determine how much of a fine QPR should pay – on top of the automatic €70m hit relegation brings.

"It will undoubtedly affect them in terms of what players they can sign and what they can spend next year," Wilson warns. "Coupled with relegation that's going to be really tough for them, because the only way of paying the fine will be selling off first-team players."

One glimmer of hope for the relegated clubs is visible on the horizon: the Premier League's blockbuster new €7.2bn TV deal that kicks in for the 2016-17 season and, by most estimates, will guarantee even the bottom club an extra €42m. But where there is opportunity there is also risk.

"If you're going to get relegated, this is the year to do it - as long as you bounce straight back [to the Premier League] for when the new TV deal kicks in," Wilson insists. "If you get relegated next year it's going to be pretty severe." According to calculations by respected football finance blogger Swiss Ramble, the gap from Championship clubs to the bottom Premier League club could rise from €81m to €117m in the first year of the new deal.

Falling off the Premier League gravy train batters and bruises the accounts of three unlucky clubs every season. But for those who are not ready to meet it at the next stop, the damage could be far more lasting.

:lol @ the Ramsey to Barca transfer rumor...

Please don't let samper go...he is he future and the heir to busquets. He is soooo good. I would give Juve any other young player...but not samper.
I have a hard time believing the Ramsey rumors and is the gundogan rumor true? I like gundogan but the midfield seems crowded with talent. I guess I'm really hoping for Pogba.

Where do yall read about all this football news anyways?

I think Sergi Samper is the crown jewel to save so I hope the club keeps him. I think he has one more year on the B squad & should then get loaned out (if other players come in on transfers). He's a technically gifted player that's very very smart & by all accounts a very hard worker who has his head screwed on right.

The club needs to sell off everyone they have on loan; Denis Suarez, Deulofeu, Tello, Afellay, & Alex Song. They realistically don't factor into the team's future plans. If they did, new names wouldn't be considered to transfer in.

I think Sergi Roberto will need to go also... I'd like to keep Rafinha though because he's a versatile player.

As for football news, I get my La Liga stuff from The Spanish Football podcast & Sky Sport's La Liga Weekly podcast. Online I go to Total Barca, Mundo Deportivo, AS Sport, InsideSpanishFootball, Sky Sports La Liga, & Football Espana.

I also read Barca Blaugranes, but you have to take what they post with a grain of salt. If I wanna laugh, I read Marca. My lovely wife got my a subscription to FourFourTwo....

Lastly I'll visit ESPN FC, Goal, World Soccer, ProSoccerTalk, Football Collective, & 101 Great Goals.

Other podcasts I listen to are The Game with Gab Marcotti (I read him online too), The Guardian's Football Weekly, & The Football Ramble... I don't do the last 2 as much as I used to because I don't pay attention to the prem much any more.

I also go to Bundesliga's website for news & stuff there too. There's another Bundesliga site I got to but I have it book marked on my home laptop & desktop... I can't remember the name of the site...
