How true is his? I like Vidal a lot and think this would be a good signing...but is Montoya still being looked over that much? I still have fath in him.

It's all speculative at this point especially since Barca can't do any transfer business this summer. But I'd give this a little credence because it's not a flashy big name being thrown around.

Montoya is an ok defender, but Barca likes its full backs to attack & Montoya seems to have a lot of trouble contributing to the attack. In fact he sometimes looks kinda clumsy back there at times manning that flank... :rolleyes I was a surprised he got an extension till 2018...

speaking of Barca, what happened to Munir?
I know he played a lot early in the season and made his debut for the Spanish NT but I haven't heard much of him towards the end...does he still have a future at Barca?

Barca B had a terrible season. I think they will be relegated to the third division. The club fired manager Eusebio earlier this year & promoted Juvenil A coach Jordi Vinyals who didn't fare much better... That pretty much sums up Munir too... :rolleyes

There hasn't been a clear lack of vision from the executive ranks with La Masia & the youth teams. That's what I've been most critical of with this board...

Who knows what is to come of the young talent the club has right now. It's all kinda up in the air right now until the summer election is completed.

Should have just given the USA the 2022 World Cup. We would have let FIFA live. Everything would have been fine and dandy.

The country that cares about soccer the least coming to help out :lol

With help from the watch and chocolate connoisseurs of course.

I missed responding to this. The reason why the US got involved is because most if not all of the money was funneled through US financial institutions & infrastructure.

Loretta Lynch was overseeing the investigation from the NYC AG's office when she was in charge there & saw it through. I wonder if the financial institutions will be forth coming though (I doubt it).

Russia's just mad that their "legal" contributions during the bidding process are about to be uncovered :lol

I'm sure the WC will be back in the states eventually, there's just too much money to be made not to. Just not while Darth Blatter is still in charge :lol

I'm sure Russia will do well in 2018. We all saw how well they managed the Olympics.

We welcome the actions of the Swiss & US authorities. Read my statement - http://t.co/f2Z25cwm5d
Statement by FIFA President Blatter
(FIFA.com) 27 May 2015

This is a difficult time for football, the fans and for FIFA as an organisation. We understand the disappointment that many have expressed and I know that the events of today will impact the way in which many people view us.

As unfortunate as these events are, it should be clear that we welcome the actions and the investigations by the US and Swiss authorities and believe that it will help to reinforce measures that FIFA has already taken to root out any wrongdoing in football.

While there will be many who are frustrated with the pace of change, I would like to stress the actions that we have taken and will continue to take. In fact, today’s action by the Swiss Office of the Attorney General was set in motion when we submitted a dossier to the Swiss authorities late last year.

Let me be clear: such misconduct has no place in football and we will ensure that those who engage in it are put out of the game. Following the events of today, the independent Ethics Committee – which is in the midst of its own proceedings regarding the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups - took swift action to provisionally ban those individuals named by the authorities from any football-related activities at the national and international level. These actions are on top of similar steps that FIFA has taken over the past year to exclude any members who violate our own Code of Ethics.

We will continue to work with the relevant authorities and we will work vigorously within FIFA in order to root out any misconduct, to regain your trust and ensure that football worldwide is free from wrongdoing.

Ok, that makes it even more interesting...runs much deeper than I thought

It's been long enough since the last time it was held in the UK and London did a great job hosting the Olympics recently,I'd definitely be on board for another WC there.
