So MLS teams dont play their hearts out? LA Seattle game would say otherwise... DCU's turnaround from 3 wins last season to being the leader in the east has been a remarkable storyline...1. Most of the time I'm watching a Blunderland match, is because I'm actually watching the other team.
2. The only time the lower matches are exciting is when it's like a midlands derby or a tyne-wear derby. And that's cause the quality isn't great, but those teams play their heart out on the pitch for the full 90.
Yaw can dog MLS all you want, but not taking into account payroll would be very naive.. You are getting what you PAY for, and you Eiddy should know it firsthand being that you watch SA footy.
Imagine if your Chiefs had an EPL payroll...
MLS is putting out a decent product on breadcrumbs compared to europe...
Sadly this Euro Footy elitism is a contributing factor to what's holding American soccer back from flourishing even more...
Imagine if some of the heads in here who are Euro fans "only" actually "Supported" their local MLS team?
90,000 fans came to watch Spain El Salvador in June at Fed Ex field outside of DC... Imagine if only 1/10th of those same fans actually went to a DCU game...
For the sport to grow and improve and attract better talent, their has to be TV deals/sponsorships/financial support from the local market. With MLS making vast improvements in their Soccer academies and homegrown talent, IMO, coupled with QUALITY local support (see Seattle and Portland fanbases), The sport can grow and flourish as a quality 4th and maybe one day even 3rd Sport here in the US.
You guys can stick your noses up at MLS all you want, just know that you are indirectly contributing to the Sport's lack of growth in the US.
And LMAO at dudes expecting EPL/EURO quality play from teams with total payrolls less than the average starter yearly salary on Chelsea/City/Man U.
