There was talk in the Spanish fish papers that Sheikh Mansour made back channel inquiries on Carlo. Although its supposed to be his dream job, there were rumblings Carlo has become a little weary in dealing with Perez & the supposed madness of the club behind the scenes.

Sheikh Mansour, Ferran Soriano, & Txiki Begiristain seem to like going after name coaches so it would have to be a coach with experience or a big name...

It will be interesting to see when the restrictions of foreign players by the English FA takes place. This will also effect American players hoping to break into the Prem too.

I would imagine limiting foreign coaches will take place too. I'm very surprised the English media is looking at the things the FA chairman is trying to do as somewhat xenophobic.

We all know foreign players/coaches in the Prem isn't the problem with English football.

The EPL is still by far the most competitive league. The German league is a 1 team league, Spain its a 2.5 team league.

Competitive =/= Quality

Let's not forget the same 3 teams have been winning the EPL over and over for almost a decade now.

Let's not use this as a basis for argument becuase it's a common problem in football leagues...

Goal no.1, I will convince Eiddy by the end of the year that the EPL is currently the third best league in Europe.

Must Accomplishhh, but I need the help fellas. He's a tough nut to crack.

Which is why I said that..

Everyone complains about La Liga always being a two horse (you could say 3 now) race, but look at all the other top leagues.

I think the thing that people love about the EPL, is moments where Stoke/Cardiff/Blunderland can beat Citeh/United/Chelsea/Arsenal which can have a MASSIVE effect on the title (see. Liverpool....see. United)

Moments like Liverpool gettin caught slippin by Palace last season leading to them dropping the title, or Steven Pienaar putting that final bullet in United a game or two before final matches which lead to them losing the title).

Or moments like this...

are also why people love the EPL.

I know statistically speaking, you can show me spreadsheets that may show how other leagues are more competitive and tightly knit, but like my mans who no matter what stat I show him about Rooney, I just won't see things that way.

There's more to football than the stats, there's more than the style of play, more than the characters, more than the passion, more than the rivalries....it's more of a perfect blend of all of those factors that makes the EPL what it is....(as well as sensational marketing :lol)

The difference is that the EPL is designed to give all teams a fair chance. For example, I believe in Spain that Barca and Real get about 80% of the tv money while all the other teams split the rest. So you will have a season like last year were Real and Barca wont win. The only problem is, any other club who wins will most likely have to sell key player to pay of massive debts. No matter how good any other team is in Germany, they know they will lose their best player to Bayern. The league is designed in such a way that there is only 1 powerhouse club who can afford to buy every top talent in the league. So no you have a league where ever club is basically Bayern's feeder club. Too many scandals in Italy to given talk about that league. England allows foreign owners to come in and invest into small clubs and turn them into to bigger clubs like City. You wont have that happening in other leagues.

Lsat I heard it was they get 50% of TV money and the rest is split amongst league.

I also heard on PLTV that apparently with the new TV deal, EPL club could see the relegated club getting 100m. :eek

I definitely agree with that. Even I enjoy watching watching Premier League matches over La Liga most of the time. You never know what to expect. I was just saying that just because you have two power house clubs in one league, the rest of the teams aren't necessarily trash. Put the lesser La Liga squads in other leagues and they would compete with the top clubs imo.

I still remember that Aguero goal, I was speechless. Then they panned the cameras on over to where United was playing, their faces were priceless.

That wouldn't be a bad thing, will allow relegated club to keep players and fighting chance to come back up

Oh yes, the media machine which is the EPL (from last place to first place) is by far light-years ahead of Spain and Germany, not to mention it's a far better structured league. The media then does a great job of displaying their moments along with using the nostalgia and tradition of the English football culture in their broadcasts, advertisements, and other media outlets. Bar none, they're playing in a league of their own when it comes down to it.

My argument is currently more focused on talent tho. Mind you these waves of talent shift every half a decade or so (so this argument will never be set in stone, CL could have an all English semi-final again in 4 years) - teams change, leagues change, players change, etc. But at the present moment, I truly believe there is more talent on the mid-upper half of the table in Spain & Germany. Their hasn't been this large a gap since I started watching football.

Not to mention, you can't be the "best" league in the world and keep losing the "best" players (Ronaldo, Bale, Suarez). La Liga loses quality players to the EPL as well but rarely do they lose "world class players", the cream of the crop. I don't want to feed you statistics or averages Eiddy, but the proof is in the pudding, English teams aren't winning in the champions league anymore. That's the most important statistic of them all.

The only problem I have with the EPL league is the lack of homegrown talent. I think the main problem is English players are ridiculously valued high in the EPL. A player like Shaw will cost 30m GBP while a better defender like Cesar cost 7m GBP. So why would clubs buy and develop English players when they can buy just as good foreign talents for half the price.

I think you guys are over thinking it. Of course different leagues dominate couple years here a couple years there. Thats just the way it is.

In my opinion this has nothing to do with which league is better. More so which city they would rather play in lol. Why would I want to play in England were its mad rainy all the time when I can play in Madrid or Barcelona? Not to mention the night life. I can't even imagine what itd be like to play in Madrid. The women, the parties, etc. Pretty sure thats why. Just everything about playing in Spain is more appealing.

Anyone remember Willy Sagnol from those Bayern and French teams of the last decade? He's the Bordeaux manager and had some pretty offensive things to say about African players
mean.gif

http://screamer.deadspin.com/heres-...nager-said-about-afri-1655447626/+GregHoward1

"There will be much fewer Africans joining Bordeaux," Sagnol started off, "because I don't want 12 players who disappear for two months every two years."

"The advantage of the typical African player,"
he continued, ominously, "is that he is not expensive when you take him, he's generally ready to fight and he is powerful on the pitch. But football is not just that, it's also technique, intelligence, discipline."

"Nordics are good. They have a good mentality,"
he said. "A football team is a mixture, it's like life, it's like France. You have defenders, attackers, midfielders, fast ones, big ones, small ones and technical ones."

Pretty surprising to me seeing as he played most of his career for Les Bleus along multiple players of African origin including Zidane the gawd. Of course he later backtracked and apologized

. It's a shame that he's in a position of power as a professional manager although I'm sure that he's not the only manager that shares that sentiment.

Fifa will show they are fighting racism by ignoring this just like they ignored Mackay and Moody

This was great btw. :lol

Dude who pointed out the weather, of course that's a big reason. But they're still leaving the league that many proclaim is "best league" in the world. That hurts man. These are big names.

I'm waiting for the billionaire oil man to take over a club in Spain and really give Barcelona and Real Madrid another legitimate rival. I know Valencia has been bought by an Asian billionaire who paid most of the clubs debts - That's great news, now Valencia can keep all the talent they produce from now on instead of selling it to Emgland. I don't know if the owner is "Man City" oil money crazy tho. Valencia is a beautiful place, way better city than Madrid plus they have great fans. I'm surprised these Arab billionaires never hopped on that before. I would have planted myself there years ago and built a super club - not one in Manchester where half the fans don't show up. :x

That's another thing I wanted to comment on, but it slipped through the cracks of my keyboard.

Ronaldo/Suarez leaving to Madrid isn't necessarily an indicator of it being the better league. It's more like a lifelong dream for some players.

Players of latin descent have dreamt of playing at Madrid and Barcelona since they were toddlers.

I think we may be downplaying the level of impact marketability has on the EPL. IMO , the premier league is not the best in the world talent-wise, but if your an up-and-coming football player and you get offers from Aston Villa and Monaco or Inter Milan, there is definitive strategy and logic behind going with AV just out of the fact that you as a player would get more worldwide exposure playing in the EPL. (Similar to the WC... It's no wonder so many shifts happen right after the tourney... As though a whole new pool of world talent is on display, case in point: Hames on RM or Cuadrado on Fiorentina transfer popularity out of nowhere). Ever league has it's hero-villain or underdog stories, but it's the ones in the premier league that go published.

For me, the EPL will be the best in the world when da gawd Zlatan decided to play there :lol

yep

Watching Everton vs Lille...

Would City go after Roberto?

Ouuuuu, nice one. I think City are dirty enough to go after anyone. They could go after Peps.

Gareth Bale's been dreaming of playing for Real Madrid since he was a child tho, he's not Latin. He's a bold piece of British white bread :lol

If their was ever a player the EPL needed more for star quality and marketing purposes it's Gareth Bale. He was literally becoming the face of the league then said "na, I'll go join Real Madrid and play 2nd or 3rd fiddle". That means a lot Eiddy, you can't tell me it doesn't. He could have gone where he wanted.
