Didier Van Gaal speaks...
@GFFN:
Deschamps's admission in the pre-match presser that he hadn't prepared a gameplan to adapt to this Portugal side now makes him look foolish.
@GFFN
Deschamps: "We did not have time to prepare specifically... recuperation comes first."

Oh no doubt. Every single German player is thinking about that Confederations Cup glory after the defeat. The German players were like "Don't be upset. We still have the Confederations Cup where we can join the giants of international football like Denmark and Mexico in winning this highly prestigious tournament" when they were comforting each other after the defeat to France.I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that your beloved German team is going to go all out to win it next year. And if they do you'll be in here making nonstop "Germany=GOAT NT" posts.

that's my guy man but damn he loves attention

The man is showing pride for his country,he's not allowed to?
Definitely nowhere in Cali. All the Portuguese here are too white washed. I have a coworker with the last name "Gomes" who doesn't know a single thing about Portugal. I'm assuming New Jersey is the spot since all my flights to Portugal go through there
**** is too funnyDidier Van Gaal
I'm kinda curious about what the Portuguese American communities on the East Coast are like. I just never explored those areas since going to actual Portugal is such an affordable flight from there anyway, so what would be the point ? I plan to make it out there eventually though next time I visit my friends in NYC.NJ, Mass, and believe it or not there's a ton of chops here in CT
QFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Football is a team sport. One man can't really carry a team. You need the entire team to be organized and if everyone else is mediocre on your team attacking wise and you're the only great forward and the defense keys in on you, you can't really do much.I'm super not trying to get into a Messi vs Ronaldo debate - but I would have never, ever, thought Ronaldo would win a major international trophy.
In like 2009, around the champions league final, I remember saying to my boys that "Messi is going rip it up with Argentina for the next 10 years. Ronaldo doesn't and won't have that type of talent around him at Portugal, so Messi would have way more potential to be he GOAT". That's due to the fact that we (footballing fans), put way too much emphasis on international football.
And I still feel that way, I think when it comes to measuring an all-time great, international football is last on my list of credentials. These international tournaments are short, disorganized, knockout/penalty driven, and only come around every 4 years. Hypothetically speaking, if some player 5 years from now is an undisputed GOAT, but happens to be from a small and average football country, will he not be the "GOAT"?
Whatever, it's a good debate, I just never thought Ronaldo would be the one to win it.
Still, I wouldn't be surprised if Argentina win it in 2018, I'd bet on them first.
