In all honesty, Rooney WAS an incredible player. Around my way, people who knew nothing of soccer, could only name 3 players and they were: Messi, Cristiano and then....Rooney. The dip in his form has been astronomical. I'd at least expect him to be able to continue to score goals here and there but not the way he is now.

As far as the others, I really just don't like Hazard, Chicha, and Altidore.

So much talent and at times it feels like it goes to waste. He won player of the year award and I feel it was completely undeserving for someone with many lackluster performances.

I feel like the angry father who gets upset with his son because he's not where he wants to see his son at yet.

Sanchez should've won PFA player of the year last season... Hazard had 14 goals in the league and I wonder how many of those were from open play..

I don't think anyone (or at least not me) is comparing Rooney with Chicha on the field. I'm comparing the way they've been and continue to be perceived off the field, The pedelstool they both stand, it isn't worthy. It's worse with Chicha with the Mexican fans - but Rooney gets paid wayyyyy much more, so his expectations should be way higher.

I don't think "amnesia" is the problem either, Rooney has only scored 20 plus goals in a season two times - TWO TIMES in his career. This Rooney being overrated narrative isn't new because he isn't scoring goals now, this has been a conversation for a long time now.

Like you said Rol "one man is going down a legend (Rooney).." - See stop, that's the problem. He isn't a legend, he shouldn't be given that type of footballing status. He's been more of a legendary symbol for club and country off the field - but on it - no way.

But yeah, you guys have to stop calling players trash. Don't follow that idiotic Truth-Serum route.

Oh word? If we consider players like Drogba, Henry and others to be legends,what's wrong with calling Rooney one? (Not taking anything away from those guys,they are legends imo) Dude is gonna end up as the all time scorer for both club and country on top of winning literally everything in club football...cmon Coupe . I'm not arguing that he's ever been at the Ronnie/Messi level,I never believed that myself but he was top 5 at one point imo. A countries best player in a generation usually ends up being considered legend status...no matter how much you hate the country or what it stands for .

He's scored 20 more than twice though ,you probably meant 20 in the league. His goal numbers could've been higher imo but he played in attack with some of the best attackers of his generation (RVN,Ronnie,Tevez) so the goal scoring duties were always shared during most of his prime.

I know I don't have much of a leg to stand on given the current incarnation of Wazza that we see but still...

He carried them to the playoffs for the first time in their history and is the leading scorer and assist maker in the league right now...won't surprise me if he's called up on loan by a big Euro club this Winter. He's also been killing it for the Azzurri internationally so I'd say it'd be well deserved
