Have any of you guys been paying attention to the recent developments on Catalonia's bid to secede from Spain? Apparently it might have major implications on La Liga, among other things of course.
Not trying to be a douche Trey, but yes this topic has came up alot. Especially during every September when Catalan National day is in full effect and 1 million people are out there holding hands from each side of the Catalan borders.
The Catalans are doing everything they can from bidding, lobbying, public polling, protesting, and challenging for the referendum to be voted on. But they always run into a HUGE road block, the high Spanish courts - it's against the law to break away according to the (The Spanish Constitution) - the Spanish government know that. They'll ride with that until the wheels fall off because they know if they allow Catalonia to vote on the referendum - the Catalans will win in a lannnnndslide.
It's interesting stuff, this news is ongoing and will not go away anytime soon - but yes we have talked about Barca being Ligue 1. It just wouldn't feel right :x :x :x - But lets say the Catalans get independence, La Liga will do everything they can to keep them but most importantly for us Footy fans is...."EL CLASICO" will be 10x more epic than it already is
