Most-watched live soccer games on US TV for weekend of 2/12 to 2/14
Of the soccer games shown live on US cable and satellite channels last weekend, seven of the top 10 most-watched games were televised on NBCSN. Six of them were Premier League matches, while the seventh was the Olympic qualifying game between the United States and Mexico women’s teams. It was an exceedingly good Sunday morning for NBCSN’s coverage of the Premier League as a combined audience of 1.6 million people watched the triple header featuring Arsenal vs. Leicester (7am-9am ET), Aston Villa vs. Liverpool (9-11am ET) and Manchester City vs. Spurs (11am-1pm ET). On the other end of the spectrum, the Bundesliga suffered another disappointing weekend. This time, an average of 32,000 people watched the Bundesliga matches across FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2 and FOX Deportes. Even the clash between Bayern Munich and Augsburg was only watched by 38,000 people. Altogether, the most-viewed soccer game on any FOX network last weekend was the 56,000 who watched Schalke vs. Mainz on Friday, February 12. Unfortunately for FOX and the Bundesliga, the audience who tuned in to Bayer Leverkusen against Bayern Munich two weeks ago didn’t help increase FOX’s numbers this past weekend. At this point, you have to wonder whether FOX Sports has given up on trying to promote the league. 1 Man City vs. Spurs 725,000 NBCSN 11am-1pm Sun, Feb 14
28 Fulham vs. QPR 3,000 beIN SPORTS 7:30-9:30am Sat., Feb 13
