I'm not sure why Zion can't use his burst of speed on defense. Maybe his turbo meter is short.

maybe. It doesn’t make sense. He’s a high IQ player in offense so he should be able to understand defensive schemes, right?

he doesn’t have the length of most top notch defenders, in fact, one could compare him to Blake Griffin on defense since they can both jump out the gym but don’t have the length to be good defenders.

he definitely needs to be better.

I gotta admit, Ben Simmons has been extremely frustrating to watch the last couple of weeks. Especially when you know what he’s capable of.

Obviously, they’re better playing through Zion. Man looks unstoppable some nights. Check the record though. Now check how many wins came with ingram being the high scorer. Check how many with Zion. Check high scorer in losses. Y’all pay attention to what y’all want and quick to point it out when a game supports y’all side.

y’all cool as **** other than that.threads a dope place to follow a game when I ain’t watching with my people.
while the score is somewhat tale-telling, I would say the set play plays an important role. if the Pelicans involved Zion more on those crucial moments rather than Ingram, it is more likely the Pelicans would have a higher percentage of winning rather than rely on Mr. On and Off Ingram.

He know where to be, but he still gets beat to the spot he needs to be. His lateral movement is also poor.

I think he will continue to get better. Young stars almost always need time for their defense to catch up to their offense.

Maybe the best recent example is Zach Lavine. It took a few seasons but he's much better at defense these days.

Easily the worst NBA season of all time. Hopefully the Lakers/Nets Finals makes up for this debacle.

Yea...
Regardless of whether Ingram is having a 30 pt night or a 14 pt night, he gets way too many isos in the closing minutes. But it is looking like his usage in the clutch is finally going down, slowly 👍

Idk how it's like now but up until a few weeks ago Ingram's usage for the yr was 30 compared to Zion's 26 in the clutch.

Downhill Speed / Speed burst / Acceleration on the offensive ends doesn't necessarily translate to the defensive end.

Two completely different modes of movement.

Explain how Zion can use his "downhill speed" on the defensive end?

All i heard was how great Zion was on defense coming out of college.

Copy and Paste where you saw that because I don't recall that AT ALL.

RJ Barrett, year two: 18/6/3 on 45/38/74

Some other notable players second years:

Jaylen Brown: 15/5/2 on 47/40/64
Bradley Beal: 17/3/3 on 42/40/79
Jayson Tatum: 16/6/2 on 45/37/86
James Harden: 12/3/2 on 44/35/84

Dudes "gave up" on RJ Barrett in the middle of last season.

They won't acknowledge the progression.
