These white people disgust me

This Billups convo is way too complex to happen on social media, but when has that ever stopped people . Find myself conflicted mostly around ideas of punishment, accountability, policing, retribution, rehabilitation, recidivism and class, gender and race issues. Especially in a “liberal” place like Portland, where you probably have so many people in favor of defunding the police, how do you reconcile that with wanting someone accused of a crime to never be able to attain a job like this again?

It’s doubly perverse to me that I’m largely seeing white journalists discuss this — there’s a huge racial component to white men/women determining what “punishment” or “accountability” looks like in this instance. They seem to be centering themselves and not the victim. Also keenly aware that there’s a class aspect where the outcome here may not have been the same if Chauncey wasn’t a rich, high profile athlete. Still, this happened almost 2 decades ago, he played a lengthy NBA career, analyst gig and assistant coaching gigs and it seemingly never came up.

It’s complex all the way around and the person who undoubtedly suffers the most is the victim and no one is asking what SHE wants, but everyone has the right answer on what should happen. I’m sure having to relive the events with everyone discussing it now is not what she wants though. Everything is just so black and white on the internet though.

Chris Haynes always has the inside scoop with some of the biggest stars. Players trust him.

Haynes protecting Dame like a MF. :lol But to be fair to Dame, the Kidd domestic abuse was 20 years ago and I didn't know about the Billups allegations until his name came up for the Celtics job.
