This is probably more apt for the Washed Thread, but I don’t think I’d even want to be picked to run, I’d be just as content shooting off to the side or on the goal when everyone is on the other end. Or, just sitting on the bleachers laughing or thinking to myself who I could probably take and guard if I were playing. But as far as trying to play, I don’t think it’d work because in my mind I know what I would want to do, but the legs likely won’t cooperate. #WashedGang

Don't get me wrong, I'd probably be the same way now.

This was back when I was 14-24 years old and could play straight 3-5 full court games to 21. I'd be lucky If I could finish 1 whole game now.

Depends. If it's 90 out and dudes wanna run full I'm not playing to 21.

It's all situational.

I've seen dudes throw hands over these decisions

One time we forced one guy to play to 21 all 1's. It was a 5x5 full court in the middle of the summer when the temp was close to 92. After the game, homie tossed the ball across the street and onto the roof of a supermarket

what is the game called when it's everyman for himself?

Where im from its called "American"
but im guessing Americans don't call it that.
We have a game called "around the world". I forgot how it goes because I haven't played it since middle-school, but I know it involves shooting jumpshots.

That's what I liked about actual summer leagues. All the particulars were handled and we could pick out own teams and just show up.

Depends who we were playing with. If it was the regular crew, we'd play with full effort.I

If "outsiders" rolled into the court, it'd probably get sloppy on their side.
True, I just know that I would pace myself in the middle than go all out when we start to get to 18.

Playing to 21 was common when I played in school. But as an adult, I prefer a half court 2 on 2/3 on 3 playing to 12.

When you played 21 did you bring the shooter back down to 0 (or 11 if he was already past 11) if you rebounded an ooped his missed shot in?

You start off shooting under the basket, and after every made shot you move farther away from the hoop. First player to finish the circuit wins.

In my entire life, I've only played one time on an 8-foot rim. Needless to say, I felt like Michael Jordan 🤣

best of times. A city park had the full court rims lowered to 9 foot once. Legit was looking like mypark out there. Girls were showing up to watch.

Man I couldn’t stand when we need 1 more and some dude shooting around by himself refused. Idk why but that always rubbed me the wrong way.

Either he thought he was too good or he was about to waste his time running back and forth without touching the rock.

Out of the many years of hoopin (I was very mediocre), I've never been able to dunk the ball. I'm 5'10" with big hands. I would clap the backboard all day, but never was able to flush the ball at the rim on a 10-ft goal. Even tried catching the ball off a bounce or on an oop. I mentally couldn't do it.

That day playing on the 8-foot rim was magical. I was doing 360's and windmills all day 🤣

When I was maybe 15, someone at the Santa Monica Boys Club thought it would be a good idea to have a 3 on 3 “dunk league” on 8.5 foot baskets. They let dudes as old as like 21 play.

It was fun, but involved the most fights/near fights of any league I ever played in.

Man we had a gym at Ft Sill called Goldner. They took the basketball court off like 9+ yrs ago it's probably all fitness. Was the worst gym to play at but everyone always wanted to because rims were like 9'9.5 and the court was maybe 50 feet long. So the whole game was off scale and ****** felt like LeBron or something, you get a defensive board take 3 dribbles and dunk.

Its a place in lawton behind Church's called the HC King Centre, I bet if you Yelp it its like 1 star because ****** die there from the gang activity, and they had a goal that was like 9'6 and every time you dunked the **** moved sideways like the rafters holding it on the ceiling or the bolts was giving way. Fights galore because if you was anywhere near the basket a ***** was trying to come from outside the paint and dunk on you, people flying in like they're bout to DeAndre Jordan putback misses, and of course the defender is flagrant fouling to prevent that. Our church team coach thought it'd be a good idea for us to practice there one day, then we get there and he scared to tell them thugs we supposively got the court reserved. That was over a decage ago there is no way that rim hasnt fallen out the ceilings and injured multiple people

edit: this is how you know I haven't been back home in a while and a few years ago moved to OKC and got all brand new. HC King Center. 4.4 Stars, Even White People Go Here Now People drop their kids off and ****.

That's a pull out the musket type situation.
