'09 COLLEGE FOOTBALL OFF-SEASON THREAD-recruiting/Coaching Changes/Transfers

Not a chance Paulus comes to Michigan and grabs that starting spot. Forcier is really impressing and I do not think Paulus is even close to being ready to playD1 football right now. Hell, I bet he would have a tough time getting past Shoelace for our #2.

Gallon would come here and instantly be our return specialist IMO. His acceleration and burst is something we need returning kicks/punts. I do not think hewould jump Tay for one of the slots but TRob hasn't blown anyone away yet but Roundtree has magnetic hands. Kid catches everything.

Carlos better stay healthy. Shaw better get healthy too. I love seeing what speed can do in this offense.

The OL playing good is music to my ears. Thank the lord somebody can play RT so that Schilling can move to natural spot at LG. Schilling is going to be a studthere. Kid is mauler and I love that.

Marvin Robinson finally gonna pull the trigger for us sometime soon. Derrick Bryant sometime in the summer from what I have heard. Also, Austin White and DiorMathis look to be thinking real hard about a decision. I would go nuts for a guy like Corvin Lamb to play for us.

The LAST thing u wanna do is open up ur season with that offense. the tackling would be abysmal and they'd go for 500 rushing yards.
Slick Rick's no dummy

Auburn said no to UCLA but said yes to Arkansas state

Second game of the yr Ohio St plays Navy..not looking forward to that..

What do you think Dez puts on UGA's secondary on Sept. 5?

250 and 3 TUBs?

Fortunately, I booked a flight yesterday for 9/5. So unless they put that one in primetime, I won't be around to witness the carnage...

he's not siffing that.

Dez is a beast, but he's not putting up anywhere near those numbers

if he does, he's winning the Heisman.

He's about to be on some Mike Crabtree freshman year statistical tip next year if they find another half-way decent receiver... And they got a real shot atwinning the BigXII next year too...

Uh...our only CB with any experience is 5'8".

The rest of them dudes have never seen the field.

Not to mention, there's no pass rush on this team...

That %%#* is gonna be UGLY.

I know

but there is no way that Mark Richt & Willie Martinez (who's job is on the line & probably would get canned if Dez did that) are going intoStillwater without a plan on how to stop Dez Bryant.

Plus I think Gundy is going to try and get too creative with his playcalling, and allow for the Dogs to take him out of the game early.

Not saying he won't have a great day or anything, just don't think he's gonna have one of those nights to remember

Plus I don't see Ok St being on the field for that long, UGA is gonna run the ball about 50 times to eat up the clock.

Philip Sims to Bama, per Rivals.

The whole reason he didn't wanna come here was because of our offense (understandably). Why would he go to Alabama though out of all the other places hecould go? He'll just be handing off and throwing on occasion. I would have much rather gone to another SEC school if I were him, since he's a greatpasser. Maybe he just wanted a free Escalade

Georgia Offense Needs Some Work

On Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs held their annual G-Day game at Sanford Stadium in front of 42,458. The game was a defensive struggle in which the first- andsecond-team offenses were held to one touchdown combined. And even then, that touchdown was scored on the final play of the game.

While the spring game is not a perfect indicator how an offense will perform during the season, there were some early signs of potential problems for Georgia. The offense lost stars Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno, so the inconsistency was to be expected.

However, for a second consecutive season, it looks as if the offensive line will cause major problems for head coach Mark Richt. In the scrimmage, the linelooked inexperienced and a step slow. It will be important for redshirt sophomore tackle Trinton Sturdivant to come back from a major knee injury thatsidelined him the entire 2008 season. Sturdivant will be in charge of protecting the blind side of senior quarterback Joe Cox.

Throughout the scrimmage, the Georgia front seven put considerably pressure on the quarterbacks and was in the backfield on most plays. Defensive end JustinHouston and linebacker Marcus Washington each registered three sacks in the game. Even though the front four had only two healthy defensive ends for the game,it was still able to get in the backfield and disrupt Cox's timing.

In all, the offense looked rather pedestrian sans a few trick plays to start the game. Even so, Cox showed he has a grasp of how Richt wants the offense to berun this year. Redshirt sophomore Logan Gray displayed his ability to make plays with his arms and legs as he competes with true freshmen Aaron Murray and ZachMettenberger for the back-up QB role.

Redshirt freshman tailback Carlton Thomas ran the ball effectively and scored the only touchdown in the scrimmage. The way Thomas ran the ball, using his speedand quickness, is eerily similar to the way former UGA back Thomas Brown used to run before he became a victim of injuries. Sophomore wideout A.J. Green made abig play early in the game, catching a 35-yard pass from Cox, but he was probably the only bright spot for a receiving corps that dropped many passes and wasineffective. No one showed an ability to step in and replace departed receiver Mohamed Massaquoi.

But help is on the way in the form of Rivals' fifth- and seventh-ranked wideouts in the class of 2009 - Marlon Brown and Orson Charles. Brown, a 6-5 targetfrom Memphis, Tenn., will be asked to come in and take some pressure off Green this season. When considering the loss of senior receiver Kris Durham for theseason because of a shoulder injury, it's even more important for Brown to play well. At 6-3, 230 pounds, Charles will play tight end at the college level.Charles already has a great connect with Murray, one of the quarterbacks competing for the back-up job, since the two were prep school teammates.

Richt clearly has his work cut out for him this offseason. Besides having to replace Stafford, Moreno and Massaquoi, he has to find players on the offensiveline who will keep Cox (or whoever plays quarterback this season) well protected. The talent is there, but it's time for the players to produce. If not,Georgia could see itself sputtering through the SEC like it did in 2006 in Stafford's freshman year.

I hope this thing w/ Paulus goes away soon. Theres no way he would beat out Forcier, Robinson, or Sheridan. This whole thing was blown out of proportionreally, how come it seems like every time RichRod farts its national news?
