'09 COLLEGE FOOTBALL OFF-SEASON THREAD-recruiting/Coaching Changes/Transfers

Count Tennessee in the mix for wideout Chris Dunkle. Dunkley is very tight with former Pahokee star Nu'Keese Richardson, who signed with Tennessee in 2009. Despite Lane Kiffin's National Signing Day shot at the Pahokee coaches, apparently things have been smoothed over.
"I'm real close with Nu'Keese. He's like my brother," Dunkley said. "He said he likes it (Tennessee) a lot. He said it's a lot of pressure, pressure, pressure (in recruiting). He told me when I make my decision, make sure it's not for your homeboy but where you want to play."
WORD.

Spring recap: Senior Joe Cox won the derby to replace No. 1 draft pick Matthew Stafford at quarterback. If this seems an awful lot like 2005, when D.J. Shockley replaced David Greene and led the Bulldogs to an SEC title, it should.

Stop it. If I hear one more person try to make that comparison, I'm punting the next bulldog that I see off a bridge.

Quinton Dunbar
"I talked with Tennessee this week and they let me know they had an offer for me and that they wanted to start recruiting me," Dunbar said of the news. "I had heard from them early on, but then it kind of stopped after I committed."

"I got the paperwork this week, they said they got it ready for me after they saw me on film, but then I committed and they kind of just held up."

"I'm pretty open and slowing things down since I de-committed, but Tennessee is one of the schools that I'm looking at right now," Richardson said.

"I'm coming up there to camp the first week of June," Dunbar offered. "I want to check out the campus and see everything and that will be a good chance for it. I think a couple of us (from Booker T. Washington) are coming up. I know Jose Jose is planning on coming with me."

Watching Oregon's spring game right now, it's like a monsoon outside, no way in hell I was about to go to that

* Poll: Should UNC have dropped Hadley?

Following his second arrest this month on multiple felony charges, Armwood High senior football player Angelo Hadley was released from the National Letter of Intent he signed in February with the University of North Carolina, according to the university.

Hadley, 18, was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of grand theft of a firearm, armed burglary of a dwelling and third degree grand theft, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department arrest report.

Hadley was arrested along with two older brothers -- Aubrey, 20, and Adrian, 24 -- in what Hillsborough County deputies called a planned family crime.

According to deputies, Angelo Hadley had sex with a 14-year-old girl while his brothers burglarized her eastern Hillsborough home between Feb. 15 and 19. Angelo Hadley unlocked a sliding glass door for his brothers the night of the burglary. The trio stole jewelry, cash and a shotgun worth more than $17,000.

Angelo Hadley previously was charged on April 5 with lewd and lascivious behavior at the same address.

"What occurred in early April and what occurred in February are all inclusive,'' said sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway.

Hadley was released on $15,000 bail after the April 5 arrest.

All three brothers are being held at the Orient Road jail. Angelo and Aubrey Hadley are each being held on $5,000 bond. Adrian Hadley is being held on $10,000 bond.

Hadley was a three-year starter for the Hawks, and ended his career as the program's all-time leader in interceptions. He was a Tribune All-Hillsborough County first team selection each of the past two seasons.

On Feb. 2, Hadley signed a scholarship to play football at the University of North Carolina. He had previously announced his intent to play at UNC on Dec. 18.

Hadley chose the Tar Heels over more than 30 Division I programs that offered a scholarship, many of which were from the nation's top collegiate programs.

Armwood High School football coach Sean Callahan declined to comment on the situation.

And I'm telling y'all again.

Watch out for Karlos Williams, ATH C/O 2011.

He MIGHT end up being the top Player/ATH in the state of Florida and will be HIGHLY recruited by all the big names.

But he likes Oregon

And can any UM fan chime in on what I've been hearing about Jahakari (SP?) Gore? Like, he is falling way down the UM recruiting chart. Like maybe 4 or 5?He can't commit right now and they would much rather have Gio Bernard from STA?

He was never that high on the recruiting chart. It's because the UM staff is looking at him basically as a scatback and not the every down type. Clementsis #1 on our board. Followed by Tevin Drake, and Gio Bernard. Then there's Brandon Gainer, Corvin Lamb, and Jakhari, and Darion Hall. Lamb and Gainer arethe only ones w/o offers yet.

I think Clements is a little overrated. And Lamb is underrated because he wasn't Miami Northwestern's feature back but the kid is nice as hell. IMO hecould end up the best out of all the So. Fla. RB's this year.

cali people thoughts on Barr...no way he'd remain at RB, right? Mostly likely convert to DE?

I thought this was pretty interesting:

2004 top 10 recruits
1. RB Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma: He was a first-round pick in 2007.
2. WR Ted Ginn Jr., Ohio State: He was a first-round pick in 2007.
3. WR Early Doucet, LSU: He was a third-round pick in 2008.
4. QB Rhett Bomar, Oklahoma/Sam Houston State: He was a fifth-round pick this year.
5. LB Keith Rivers, USC: He was a first-round pick in 2008.
6. LB Willie Williams, Miami/Louisville/Union (Ky.): He was undrafted this year.
7. DE Brandon Miller, Georgia: He was undrafted in 2008.
8. DE Derrick Harvey, Florida: He was a first-round pick in 2008.
9. DE Jeff Schweiger, USC/San Jose State: He was undrafted this year.
10. QB Xavier Lee, Florida State: He was undrafted in 2008.

2005 top 10 recruits
1. WR Derrick Williams, Penn State: He was a third-round pick this year.
2. WR Patrick Turner, USC: He was a third-round pick this year.
3. OT Eugene Monroe, Virginia: He was a first-round pick this year.
4. DT Melvin Alaeze, Maryland: He is in prison.
5. LB Rey Maualuga, USC: He was a second-round pick this year.
6. WR Fred Rouse, Florida State/UTEP: He hasn't been draft eligible and is no longer playing college football.
7. QB Mark Sanchez, USC: He was a first-round pick this year.
8. TE Martellus Bennett, Texas A&M: He was a second-round pick in 2008.
9. OT Reginald Youngblood, Miami: He went undrafted this year.
10. RB Jonathan Stewart, Oregon: He was a first-round pick in 2008.

2006 top 10 recruits
1. WR Percy Harvin, Florida: He was a first-round pick this year.
2. OT Andre Smith, Alabama: He was a first-round pick this year.
3. RB Chris Wells, Ohio State: He was a first-round pick this year.
4. DT Gerald McCoy, Oklahoma: He's heading into his junior season.
5. LB Sergio Kindle, Texas: He's heading into his senior season.
6. QB WR Matthew Stafford, Georgia: He was a first-round pick this year.
7. WR Vidal Hazelton, USC/Cincinnati: He has petitioned the NCAA for immediate eligibility at Cincinnati, where he would be a senior this season.
8. RB C.J. Spiller, Clemson: He is heading into his senior season.
9. LB Allen Bradford, USC: He is heading into his junior season and now is a running back.
10. QB Mitch Mustain, Arkansas/USC: He is heading into his junior season.

And I'm not 100% sure about the numbers, but I remember seeing a breakdown of the first two rounds of the NFL Draft over the last 3-5 years, and nearly 25%of the picks were prospects with 2* or less coming out of high school. I'll see if I can find that chart.

I saw yesterday that Cam Wade from FSU got in trouble again, what's his deal?

Dre you guys going to need him or would you rather see them cut him loose?

He missed his court date. Damn does FSU even have any more receivers to be cutting him loose??
