Come on guys save the hate! Vick can defintely start at quarterback in the NFL or at the very least be in two on any depth in the leauge except the Patroits.
....90% of those guys are backups.....

Exactly...

And we're talking about Pro-Bowl appearances...

Guess what... Roy Williams made the Pro-Bowl like 5 years running... He made it last year and he was flat out AWFUL... Pro-Bowls mean absolutely nothing tome...

Michael Vick was a great football player, but he was not a good quarterback... Two years removed from football is only going to make him worse as a passer...He's not gonna read defenses as well as he did, which he didn't do particularly well using his arm to begin with...

You don' take two years away from all the physical training you've gotta do to reach that level and take two years away from any type of live footballaction and become a better football player...

He was terrible throwing the football and making plays with his arm before he got sent to prison... It's only gonna be worse two years removed fromeverything...

What gives you that impression, that he can "flat out win games"? And these records were before the time off. Again, he may be able to find a place that brings him in with special situations (Kordell style when he first started in the league), but a full time QB? I don't think he will ever be that again, at least not a starting QB. Falcons are so much better off with Matt Ryan, amazing how that worked out. And prison can mess you up with sports. It isn't about just continuing to work out, being away from the sport can make it very tough to get back into it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I want to say that the 5-11 season was when he was out for a good amount of it? So his combined (other than thatseason) looks to be 45-37...I don't think it looks too bad, especially considering he had some tough competition in the NFC South for a couple of years Ithink...with the Panthers and Bucs both going to the SB in that amount of time? Though it remains to be seen, I still think he has the talent to warrant anoffense created around his abilities, and I still think he'll have the skills to force teams to adjust to him.

He'll play for sure in 2010.

But as far as this year he'll probably serve a suspension because Goodell is a +!$*$.
He been playing football in jail though so he shouldn't be out of football that badly.

Word to me he gon' be like Adam Sandler in that movie..

Look what happened when Maurice Clarrett took two years off from playing football. He came back and was practically un-signable. And he wasn't even injail! Trust me Vick is done fellas. He was a good quarterback, but he's done.

I really can't believe this. You are an idiot if you think some pickup football games in jail will keep him in football shape. You are an idiot if youthink you can just lift to stay in football shape when you are in the gym.

It's amazing that some of you want to cry how people are just hating on him. You're doing the EXACT opposite. There's a reason why people don'tcome out of retirement in the NFL. Football is the toughest sport to condition for. Quarterback, mentally, is the toughest position to play. Yet Mike Vick, after spending two years in prison, is going to return and be better than half the QBs in the league? No.

he got nothin to lose and everything to prove with that alone he will come out

Ok I'll trust you. -_-

He has to get back into football shape

He can't just come out of prison and go back to being a starter in the NFL

Goodell, is that you?

How are you going to say ANYTHING involving Mike Vick and the NFL is a sure bet? Goodell has Vick by the balls. Vick can't do #*%$ without Goodell givinghim the green light.

and you honestly think that beacuse Vick is QB'ing the prison sqaud, his transition (if he does make it back) to the NFL won't be that hard?

Well the Falcons still have rights to him. So I don't care where he gos so long as we get someone good in exchange for him. As for the 49ers getting him. That could be interesting especially at the fact that the Falcons play them this coming season.

The 49ers are NOT going to sign him, Adam Shefter is stupid..Here is what Matt Maiocco has to say about it..

This game of connect the dots is a fool-proof way of figuring out what is going on with your favorite NFL team. It works a little something like this . . .

The 49ers interviewed Dan Reeves, who coached Michael Vick. The 49ers interviewed Hue Jackson, who almost coached Michael Vick.

Jackson and Reeves never coached together, but they coached for the same organization (Falcons).

Jackson would have coached Vick in 2007 if Vick hadn't been caught and imprisoned on federal dogfighting charges.

Oh, yeah, the 49ers also signed defensive back Jimmy Williams, who has a battle on his hands to win a roster spot. Williams arrived at Virginia Tech two years after Vick's career concluded.

Put all that together and it seems obvious to me that the 49ers have decided to acquire Vick when/if he is able to resume his career after serving his sentence, as well as any suspension Roger Goodell might impose.

But that is not all I've learned in recent days:

--The 49ers' plan to go after Vick was actually Plan B. The first idea was to acquire Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss, and build a dome to replace Candlestick.

This would've been the plan if Scott Linehan had just said yes to the 49ers' offer to become offensive coordinator. Linehan was coordinator of a top-4 ranked Vikings offense for three consecutive seasons with Culpepper and Moss as his main weapons under the roof of the Metrodome. But when Linehan declined the 49ers' offer, the 49ers had no other choice but to rip apart that plan and begin their planning to get Vick.

--The 49ers will do whatever's necessary to select Ole Miss offensive lineman Michael Oher in the draft.

Oher's first year in college was 2005. That is the same season that Micheal Spurlock concluded his Ole Miss career. The 49ers signed Spurlock to a contract this week. Hel-LOOOO! I mean, can you even conceive a scenario in which the 49ers would sign Spurlock if it wasn't already a done deal that they'd soon be getting Oher? All you have to do is connect the dots on this one. Oh, yeah, and Patrick Willis is already on the team. This one is just way too easy.

--The 49ers plan to lure Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana out of retirement.

Coach Mike Singletary hired Tom Rathman to join his staff as running backs coach. Singletary is being just a little too obvious about his intentions. Obviously, the best way to get Montana out of retirement is to hire a former teammate to the staff. You read it here first.

Singletary has not announced Shaun Hill will be the starter in 2009 for one very good reason. How can Hill be the starter with Montana on the team?

See how this game works? Feel free to play along.

Obviously you havent paid attention to the Falcons this decade.

Vick started 2 games(1-1) in 2001(remember Chris Chandler) Vick started 4 games (3-1) in 2003(He broke his ankle)

If anybody can do it. Vick will be the guy to do it. Dude is probably one the best athletes in the past 25 years up there with Bo Jackson,Lebron, and DeionSanders.

Also although I think Ryan is going to be great. How many playoffs game has he won?

How many playoff games has Carson Palmer won?
How about Drew Brees?
How about Tony Romo?
How about Mark Bulger?
How about Jay Cutler?

....90% of those guys are backups.....

Also if notice I said"play quarterback" I didnt say who's a superstar or who's starting. And all those quarterbacks I naming with theexception of Byron Leftwich have played signifcantly in past 2 seasons.

So if those guys can play quarterback in the NFL. Vick can STILL do it.

So much has to be done just for him to play again, don't the Falcons still own the rights to him? Doesn't he still owe them money?

I don't know maybe the cowboys, or the raiders will take a chance. I know Oakland will take him with open arms, and I know the Hippies from SF, and Berkleywill protest it. I also know raiders fans will beat the hippies up and stab them.

Sure, but you need to constantly train and work it to actually keep it. Why do basketball players that are super athletes, with little otherskill, disappear and fall off once they hit late 20s and 30s. Because whether you accept it or not your body deteriorates.

And fine Deion can do it, Deion was a freak. As fast as Vick was, he was only a freak for his position. Not for football overall. Being in prison and nottraining for that long will do it to you. I'm not hating, I wish him luck. But I think most of you are dilusional if you think it will be an easycomeback and transition after not playing for 2 seasons just because he was a great athlete. Hell, that's exactly why he will have a harder time, becausehe depended SO MUCH on his athletic ability.

People on both sides of the argument sound mighty silly...

Playing football in jail is no help and being out 2 years is going to take alot of work to comeback from. there is no doubt about it.
But to think there arent qb's in the NFL right now that he isnt better then is also just as foolish. The only way he doesnt get a chance somewhere is if hedoesnt get reinstated at all (unlikely), If he has lost all his talent completely (highly unlikely), or if he gets black balled al la Barry Bonds (mostlikely).

Its funny how not surprised I am by who is on which side of each argument.

And Nowitness Vick is better then Graham Harrell.

-Maurice Clarrett clearly didnt have it all together upstairs either. He also never really played in the NFL to begin with, remember he tried tocome out of Ohio State early.
-I agree Vick wont be in football shape but I do think that he will be in shape. Clarrett balloned in the time he was away from football. Mike ain't gotnothing better to do than workout...
-All that being said its gonna be hard for him to get back in the league. He straight lied to Goodell and Arthur Blank....
-Indirectly, this whole Adam Jones thing isn't helping either.

Exactly alot teams that could use Vick will be cautious when they shouldnt be. Maybe some team can get him fairly cheaply. Maybe a conditional 5throunder. Maybe he might be on the waiver wire? What do y'all think?

I cant believe some of the comparisons being thrown around here...
laugh.gif

Vick's situation is nothing alike Clarrett or Pacman. I'm not condoning what he did because it was horrible, but they're on different levels.
