Shouldn't have spiked there obviously, but if you're gonna do that then you don't take a drop step. Once it hits your hands you just push the ball down.
 
Why the hell would you risk spiking the ball with only 2 seconds left?

Congrats to the Ducks for finally winning a big bowl game, even though it seemed like they tried to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on that last Wisconsin drive with the "defense" they were playing.
