We do one every year, people love fussin over the MVP in the NBA.

Last year people argued over Rose/Bron/D12

This year, looks like it's the SF spot Lebron vs Durant for MVP.

I think as of today, 3/29/2012, it's Durant's to lose.  Stat folk will swarm in and say it's Lebron, only a month left, so let the debate begin, who everybody got?

Lebron should win.

Durant will win.

The league should create a secondary MVP award. A Diet MVP or MVP Lite, if you will. For guys like Kevin Love or Nash who are MVPs for fringe playoff teams.

Why do you say that like it's a bad thing?  Like stat heads have no logic on the "watching the game" perspective of the game.  Or they're just number junkies who don't care for it.  Should we just ignore the stats and stick strictly to gameplay video?  Or should we just pay complete attention to team records?  I understand partially what your beef is but some of it is just a case of a lot of folks not wanting to change the way you can watch and look at the game.

And Durant is playing with Westbrook, Harden & Ibaka?  If we're going by who plays with who then Dwight should get it every goddamn year with Love as a runner up.

Well, I was told back when Kobe was the best player in the game by a wide margin that that wasn't what MVP was about.  Winning was.  (See Steve Nash........who is now getting love for a team that won't make the playoffs, funny how that works out now)

Durant's team is 1A-1B in the NBA, Mr James team, is not.  At least currently.

So are we changing our criteria again?  I just want to be up to speed is all.

If the Heat win the next 20 and have the best record, I'll gladly change my vote from Durant to Lebron.

If we're saying who's most 'valuable' to their team, how would the Heat look without LeBron. Would they really fall to the bottom of the standings?

I guess it depends on how you define 'most valuable.'

I've said Durant in the past - but honest to God - take Kobe off the Lakers and they're literally a team fighting for contention.

It should be Durant or Kobe.

Lebron has weapons who are just a powerful as he is. You take him off the team, they're barely affected. Durant is the core of the Thunder - they revolve their offense around him - he struggles, the whole team struggles. And Kobe is everything the Lakers have. Everything.

i got it like this currently:

1) KD (too many big shots.. team has a better record in a harder confernce.. and handedly won the head to head matchup with no. 2)

2) lebron (yea he got the stats.. but stats don't always tell the whole story.. but hey, it's my opinion)

3) kevin love (was really tempted to put him at 2)

4) tony parker (him and love should be getting mentioned more in these type of convos)

5) nash

6) kobe

7) CP3 (barely hanging on to this list, but there are couple games left in the year)

This.

There should be a Most Outstanding and a Most Valuable.

I'm not going to go back and forth with some of you. You have your ways/beliefs, players you like/dislike and don't ever come out of it or attempt to see the other side. It's pretty pointless.

Right now, I'll say Bron - Durant - Wade - Rose - Love.

LeBron is the best basketball player in the world, he plays the same position as Kevin Durant, and quite literally is better than him at almost every aspect of the game.

In 20 years, NT's future children will be wondering how LeBron didn't win the MVP every year.

Kobe is 53 years old and putting up 27 ppg - got his team on top of the division - and y'all really not considering him?

I've lost hope in NT's S&T...

I don't dislike LeBron. He is an amazing talent and freak of nature. I just can't see him being most 'valuable' playing alongside two other top players. When he was in Cleveland, he more than deserved that award, in my opinion. It's all based on how you see it, though. There's no definitive criteria to determine MVP, so agree to disagree I suppose.

So by that logic, you take Rose off the Bulls and what are they?  Still crushing the competition in the East.  They were doing this last year as well.

Last season's MVP voting set a horrific new standard for MVP voting.

AT, I'd put Kobe 6th.  Is it really that bad that I'm putting only 5 other players ahead of him?

Dude...Kobe's been great but he's also had some 3-20 performances.  As much as he's important, Bynum/Gasol are even more important.  Lakers are succeeding above all because they have two seven footers in the paint, both playing at a very high level.  Kobe's been great 1st team All-NBA but he's basically a volume scorer at this point in his career that's not an MVP.
