You all put WAY too much emphasis on the word "valuable" in MVP.

Using "if you take this player away from this team" as a critical component is completely asinine. How they would do without that player is something we just speculate on and will never know.

Who's to say Oklahoma City minus KD with Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka wouldn't be better than the Heat minus LBJ with Wade/Bosh? We just don't know.

Stern was trying not to be a hypocrite; because Nash's second MVP year's stats were better than the first.

But he shouldn't gotten the first one IMO. Kobe been getting robbed before Vanessa..

IMO, Thunder without KD is a better team than the Heat without LeBron. Yall are all really just focusing on the core players and either way you slice it Russ or Harden > Bosh. So when you add in Ibaka it just tips the scale in their favor. Granted how good each team would be record wise is speculation.

Why do I feel the only reason Animal Thug thinks Durant is the MVP because he's going up against Lebron?

I hate when people say Lebron has the 2nd best SG in the league on his team. Durant has the best scoring trio in the league. He's not just carrying that team on his own. Its like the same arguments you make against Lebron, you can for Durant. TBH, would that OKC team still be #1 in the West if you took Harden or Westbrook off that team? I don't think so. I know that Miami team would still be #2 in the East if you took Wade or Bosh off.

Harden and Westbrook are just as important for OKC as Durant. You can't say the same in Miami. Lebron could easily take that team to the Finals without Wade or Bosh on that team.  

So, when it all comes down to it, you should go by the best overall player which is Lebron.

Having a better PER does not = having a better year.


Does having a higher PER, higher WS/48, more total win shares, higher offensive rating, lower defensive rating, and higher adjusted plus/minus = having a better year?

LeBron is probably the best player AND his team is up there with the best in the League. Huge difference.

Criteria has been, and always will be... Great player from one of the best teams in the League.

I know you're not a stat guy man but that's the way the game (all sports TBH) are going. And it's not a bad thing. Doesn't mean people aren't watching the games anymore, just finding newer ways to analyze it. I think once you embrace it, the more you'll find it useful.
