This may or may not have been brought up, but what has Derrick Favors done to deserve that 4 year/49million dollar deal?

nothing :lol

i was gonna comment on it but i bet everyone was gonna call me a troll.
I don't see how that 49mill was warranted.

Just caught the D. Rose vid, dude looking nice out there. And props for the fans of Chicago to be out there showing support.

How? Bargs cant play defense[/quote]

That's the point

Melo gets in shape every year. He just isn't built like LeBron.:lol

Eveey year we go over the Melo being out of shape storyline. It's overblown.

Ans Bargs will be what he is. 15/5. Solid three point percentage and spread the floor. Eaten alive on the defensive end.

the way I see it, the Knicks improved. That old roster broke down multiple times last year. Hopefully that isn't a problem again this year.
I meant this time I thought I saw Melo actually slimmed down, visibly. But I could have been seeing things lol

I hope Bargs is at least solid from three, because that's his calling. Unfortunately the past few years I don't even know if he could be considered solid in that regard.

I have no faith in Amare anymore as far as being consistent.

Yeah, I saw Bargnani's 3 point percentage was pretty low last year. Just hope him staying healthy this year can change that and allow him to get into a bit of a groove. Either way, he'll be better than what Novak and Camby brought to the table last year.:lol

Agreed on Amar'e. I wont get my hopes up. Anything he brings to the table will jusy be extra. At this point you gotta plan as if he won't be healthy.:(

Main thing I'm looking forward to is the progreasion of Shump and seeing what Hardaway Jr. has to offer.

David West vs Bargs should be fun in the playoffs
:x

I look forward to the Bargnani/Melo mismatches on the offensive end, though.:evil

I would say no. Even if anything.

Miami, Indy, Chicago, Brooklyn, New York= contenders, if you're an optimist

vs.

SA, OKC, Houston, Golden State, LAC and Memphis= contenders, if you're an optimist

Only teams in the West that are garbage are Suns and Kings. East after the 5 teams listed above are meh. Not to say Cleveland, Washington etc. aren't young and upcoming. The West has a few of those as well in the T'Wolves and Pelicans
But are those 5 teams in the east stronger then the 6 in the west. I think Indy , chicago , and Brooklyn are stronger then Houston , golden state, and LAC. Maybe the east isn't as deep. But the quality at the top I think is better other then OKC I think those top 4 can beat any team in the west in a 7 game series.

Hardaway Jr. IMO is a rookie to watch... I liked what I saw in summer league and a bit of pre-season.

im excited to see him play, my fav rookie this year. hope he can break out and become an all star which i think he totally can.

east is top heavy, west has more depth. better depends on which you value more: has the best overall team or has more (quantity) good teams

Exactly lol.

And God forbid they play Bargs at the 5.

But he is such a big height mismatch over DWest that he should have some nice scoring opportunities

I can see Woody playing him at the 5 and Melo at the 4 for stretches.:x

Don't ever want to see that against Indiana, though.:lol

He looked great in preseason. He can shoot. He's athletic and he's got the body and lateral quickness to be a good defender.

All these damn guards, though. I hope he gets 10-15 mins a night.

Knicks still dont have a reliable #2, but they improved because they got dirt nowitzki? I dont see shump taking that next step as a #2, another 50 win season with a 2nd round exit if they get a top 4 seed

Knicks might have to play both the pacers and the bulls in the playoffs next year.

Why all these athletes wanna go on a FA recruiting tour? Is it like on He Got Game or something?
I love the movement Bron and them started bying recruiting each other. It puts all the power in players hands. Gone are the days of wasting your prime years on a losing squad just to make as much money possible and have some YouTube clips titled "Blank player Timber wolves Mix 2014"

The same applies for serious inuries. We've all seen over the past two decades dudes come back too early because their team was some mess and the team was losing games and money, only to play a few games and just get hurt again and never look the same.

Love the fact D Rose sat out the entire year and did not force a return because he knows how important recovery is. Now dude is back playing just as good or better than ever. Thats how players need to behave. Dudes are learning from the mistakes of the past NBA players and its awesome. I LOVE THIS GAME

They wouldn't be lying, but I've commented on it and dudes in here are saying its based on potential.  Thats far too much for potential. A 2 year, 6 mill deal would have been enough till he proved himself

Never said they'd run through the playoffs, but they improved their roster on paper acquiring Bargnani, Udrih, Artest (his momma called him Ron) and Hardaway Jr and shedding a ton of that age that was the topic of discussion last season.

There's still no real #2 threat, you're right. But the bench is solid. I think there's guys who can fill that void collectively. Just gotta hope for another great season from JR (:lol) and the improvement of Shumpert's ability on offense. I don't think Shumpert will jump out and be our #2 but I can see him upping his ppg over last year.

And IF Amar'e can play more than 20 games this year, he can easily put up 15/7 or so, buy that's a huge longshot.

I guess we'll see how things work out.

hes been in the league what 3-4 years? All i hear is potential but ive seen nothing yet. Sure he has a nice game every once in awhile but when will he come this great player he supposed to be EVERY night?

He just gave you 9/7 with 2 blocks in just 23 minutes per game at 21 years old.

With Millsap gone, he'll be getting a nice bump in playing time. Something like 15/11 with a few assists & 2 blocks is well within reach. The only bigs to put up those numbers in the past decade are Dwight, Garnett, Elton Brand, & Yolo Bynum. Now he's obviously not as valuable as those guys, but his combo of skills is still rare.

I have no issues with that contract.

Like said, that contract is pretty much based on potential. It's a gamble that Jazz took that can be argued whether it's worth it or not. Personally, I think not.

I didn't hear anything about other teams interested in him, so I felt they should've given him a 2 year contract then talk extensions. Seemed like they overbidded against themselves.
