2013 College Football Thread (Realer than Real Deal Holyfield -->S/O Craftsy)

there is no convincing you. Its been like a yrs worth of you shooting him down as a candidate.

UDub didint exactly have pick of the litter talent. He turned some average talent, winless scubs to a winning record.

You wanted James Franklin? What's difference in he and Sark?

Actually wanted a run at Fitzgerald, but, that was far fetched.

Not a fan of his play calling, CLK with more energy. Franklin has at least taken down some big competition, Sark always seems to get outcoached in big games. He did turn UDub around in his first two years, but IMO, he has failed to build on that even after pillaging Cal's recruiting dept. Not a lot of people were expecting a title run five years after going winless, but being stuck at 7-8 wins and not beating anybody worth a damn is concerning. He can't get over the 5-4 conference hump either.

Not a happy camper...

Going to shop these cyber monday deals to take my mind off it...

**** it, might make it a cheat day too and get a double bacon cheeseburger, :{

I'll be ready to eat crow...

I'm pleased with this hire :hat

I find it incredible that USC didn't go after a bigger name though... Some programs merit the attention of the big guys and it's a little odd they'd go to a guy who hasn't done a whole lot at Washington. Things could change though, I suppose...

Just to show the scum that he is. a couple of hours ago he was on a seattle sports radio channel, (KJR Mitch in the morning) and he said he is nowhere close too taking the USC job and he is staying in Seattle

have fun USC
Dude, what do you expect him to say? It's a loaded question, and no matter which way you answer, you will get someone pissed.

No way. Wilcox has to be out front for Udub job.

Btw if Sark brings Wilcox as Dc, you USC fans have legit reason to gripe

Sark is a good coach.

Silly reactions from the Sc contingent.

Bad part was y'all talking yallselves outta him early on.
Convince me... All I see is mediocrity and second half slides... convince me...

To be fair... people here said the exact same things about David Shaw taking over at stanford, and about Sumlin going to A&M right as they moved to the SEC.  People don't remember, but we did.

Everyone also said the exact same thing about Carroll (who allegedly pushed for this pick btw.)

The only difference here is that the team's own fanbase are among the detractors.  Kiffin went 10-2 with sanctions.  Give Sark time.  He's a good coach, and with the right staff he could be a great head coach.

And the whole "USC could always recruit LA" thing wasn't true for this season until about 4-5 weeks ago.  Maybe this will put a fence up around Southern California again.  Imagine if Orgeron stays?

Other fan bases get hyped for Butch Jones, Brian Kelly, Gus Malzahn, but we want Lombardi or bust?

Give it time.

All that matters is the contract. Can't listen to what any coach says on sports radio or on TV or to boosters at events. Follow the money.

I will say this:

USC allegedly was hanging $6 million a year out there and had interest from Gruden, Sumlin, Petersen, etc.  Could have taken a huge home run swing and end up going with what was the safe choice.  After all the build up I think people are just let down theres no wow factor.

But how is Sark a worse coach than Franklin or any of the other so so BCS coaches getting looks?  Because we're familiar with him?  He's beaten us with less talent.  That has to count for something.

I see a few things on Twitter about Coach O...

Dan Greenspan ‏@DanGreenspan 4m
Oregon should offer Ed Orgeron enormous $$$ to come in as D-line coach. Ducks really missed Jerry Azzinaro, who went w/ Chip Kelly to Eagles

KING. ‏@MattrellMcGraw 2m
If Coach ED O goes to Eugene .. I'LL COMMIT TODAY !!!!!!

I'd take Coach O as our d-line coach...heaven knows we need one that can recruit those big boys and coach'em up.

Well its being reported he was offered the job last night, therefor he already knew he wasn't staying at UW. no need to add all that extra crap about wanting to stay in seattle, and was only there for a recruiting trip, is staying in UW. Also he knew what he was being asked before even going on the show.

Orgeron isn't going to Oregon, stop it.

Word is Pendergast IS out though

Meh.  His players balled out, but it was more so the Coach O effect.  I think Coach O will stay on.

Half the kids who committed to USC are prob gonna stay, but the dudes who committed just cuz of Coach O are gonna have to be rerecruited.

And CEO wasn't getting the job.  He was dismantled by Jim Mora.  That sealed it.

Also, rumor is Hundley is declaring this year and whispers of Mora interested in NFL

Oregon Orgeron. That has a nice ring to it :lol

I'd be surprised if he left USC, but I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a new D-Line coach for Oregon next year.
