"KILL THE HEAD AND THE BODY WILL DIE," is not a message anyone who isn't training a team of snipers or Orkin men should be preaching to anyone else, especially to children. But it happened in the NFL with the Saints and now it's happening in this pee-wee football league in Texas. So that's fun. 

 

Friday Night Tykes will debut next Tuesday on the Esquire Network at at 9|8c and it already reeks of controversy. In this sneak peek below you'll see one impassioned coach preaching to his pupils about ripping the other teams head off and watching them bleed. At one point he even instructs a child to target his opponents helmet and then saying, "I don't care if he don't get up." For Christ's sake, it's one thing to like smash-mouth football, but it's another thing to use terrible grammar in front of a child.

 

That all said, who knows if any or all of this wasn't scripted to hype the show by the ratings brain trusts at the Esquire Network. Yeah, let's just hope for that.

Don't blame the underclassmen for leaving. It's a big risk playing your final year in a new system, when there's already enough game tape. None of the guys leaving are projected as first rounders even if they stay another year so might as well go for it now and start getting paid along with getting that rookie deal out of the way.

2014 is the year that is going to hurt most, attrition plus small classes, makes for a bad combo. They'll be competitive but might be a rough/mediocre year.

Honestly, growing up that's what we were taught. Game was played a different way in the late 90's. On kickoffs and kickoff returns our coach would say "Hit 'em in the ear hole".

Good times. During practice we would do the whole "let the paramedics sort 'em out" spiel from The Program. Watch hard hit NFL videos on the VHS. During film we would replay when dudes took other players out, not with injury but with a hard hit.

Yeah, none of those things are PC anymore, scared for my kids when I do have them because if this generation is soft, the next one is going to be softer. *sue me*
