Blue chip linebacker recruit Matthew Thomas told Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher on Tuesday night that he will honor his commitment to the school, according to a source.

Thomas also released a statement to the website Warchant.com, re-affirming his commitment.

On Monday, Thomas' father told ESPN his son wanted to attend USC. Previously, Thomas had told the Miami Herald he wanted to switch his commitment from FSU to USC or Georgia.

At one point, the Thomas family did request a release from his Florida State scholarship, which the school would not do without a justifiable reason.

Thomas previously said he felt pressured by his mother on national signing day because she would not sign his National Letter of Intent to attend USC.

All along, Florida State was maintaining hope that by continuing to communicate with Thomas that he would eventually decide to report.

One source said in the end Thomas did not want to give up a year of eligibility and playing this season.

Florida State can exhale a final breath if and when Thomas reports with his classmates, perhaps as early as this weekend.

Hand apparently dropped us from contention, and it's now Bama, Michigan, and Florida. :{ This came so out of left field.

God I hate our recruiting.

Shocked that he dumped VT... Hope he visits in July and then again for the ND game... Kid needs to be a Wolverine

Not surprised, I expect him to contribute on special teams this year, and be in contention for one of the LB spots next year...son has put on good weight since the end of the season. Doubt Kiffin lasts @ USC the next two years anyway

What's going on at FSU, why you no keep so many commits

What are ya'll expecting out of Ukeme Eligwe?

Happens to all of the schools, nature of recruiting in this new age, and its really no surprise since kids are committing so early.

Think Eligwe contributes more on special teams this year, but I do expect him to break the rotation somewhat this season. Think C. Jones, Telvin Smith, Reggie Northrup will be the top 3 LB's with a mix of Terrance Smith, and Eligwe

Everyone doubting that kiffin lasts til next year, you realize with that offense all they need is competent play calling and they're just as likely to finish in the top 15 with 1-3 losses as they are to finish with 7-8 wins again?

they're weak in the secondary but that isn't going to make or break this season.  knowing that he's on the hot seat, Lane won't call games as arrogantly as he did last year.

Spoke with Matthew Thomas this morning

I finally spoke to Matthew this morning. Last week, he told me he would stay with FSU if they wouldn't release him because he refused to sit out a year. He confirmed that to me this morning. He leaves for FSU Saturday & said he decided it was a better fit for him & he has a good chance to play early.

As far as the media craziness this week, he told me he didn't have his phone for the last few days & was staying at his Aunt's house...his mom is still out of the country and he told me he didn't know his dad talked to ESPN or any media until after the fact. His dad called him after and told him. Matthew was not at all happy about that from what I can tell. He tells me that pretty much put him over the edge & he decided he would let it all go and go to FSU this week.

Kiffin has been around enough to know that that you have to buy the person who actually has input on the decision. Wasted money :{ :{

Ain't no thing...

Meh, sitting out and losing a year is a tough choice.

He wasn't getting released from his LOI. He has no "sick" relatives to get a waiver, :lol

Momma won.
